We’re proud to celebrate Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Don Poythress on another remarkable career achievement.
Don is a co-writer of “Love Overdue,” a song selected for the track listing of Willie Nelson’s new album, Dream Chaser, released May 29, 2026. Having a song recorded by one of country music’s most iconic and influential artists is a milestone few songwriters ever experience, and it is a testament to Don’s extraordinary talent and enduring impact on the craft of songwriting.
A native Mississippian whose songs have been recorded by numerous major artists throughout his career, Don’s contributions to American music were recognized with his induction into the Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame. His success continues to shine a spotlight on the rich songwriting heritage of our state.
