Story Slam Oakland StorySlam Oakland is a monthly open-mic true storytelling show. Started in Oakland in 2012. Put your name in the hat to tell a five-minute story from your life.

StorySlam is an open mic event where people tell and listen to true stories on a theme. The two top winners get bragging rights and prizes for mesmerizing us with their tale on every month's theme. How it Works:

Rules (for storytellers):
Storytellers will be chosen at random from the names in the hat. Special featured storytellers get more time - send a message about how to get on the Featured St

oryteller list and get up to 10 minutes to tell your story. All stories must be: True. About YOUR life. On theme.
5 minutes or less for open-mic stories. Tell your story spontaneously or from memory, but no notes are allowed. Right now we're doing shows online. When the shelter-in-place order is over and we return to a real venue, it gets crowded. Open to all. You don't have to tell a story to enjoy the show. If you want a chance to tell a personal story from your life be sure to arrive when doors open to get your name in the hat. And to get a seat! It's often standing room only. So come early.
