High Knob Hellbender 10k The High K**b Hellbender is a mind-bending, heart-pounding, leg-crushing 10K race in downtown Norton.

Held the first Saturday each October, the Hellbender climbs more than 2,000 feet in six miles from the smallest city in Virginia to the 4,200-foot High K**b summit, which is the highest point in the Cumberland Mountains. An observation tower atop the mountain offers an expansive viewshed extending from Virginia into Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

This year's race (rain, shine, wind, or snow) will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, in Explore Norton VA.
