In recognition of Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month, the Faeriessance Guild of Northport, NY, and its higher education partners joined Planting Fields Foundation, Oyster Bay, NY, to present: Fairy Trails & Pollinator Tales: A Sensory Adventure on April 14, 2025.
This FREE event for all ages and abilities invited guests to embark on a special journey amidst the arboretum’s spring blossoms in search of real-life fairies and to discover the importance and wonders of their pollinator friends.
“This magical experience would not be possible without the generous support of Faeriessance,” said Planting Fields Educational Manager Erin Fitzpatrick. “Their dedication to bringing joy, imagination and wonder to our community helps make this event truly enchanting.”
Guests were encouraged to keep their eyes open and hearts full of wonder as they explored for magical guests, their wee houses, portals, and more.
“The Faeriessance Guild is thrilled to bring a whimsical addition to Planting Fields’ week of discovery events and to craft a program brought to life by faeries,” said Faeriessance Founding Maker Heather Shivokevich. “We are storytellers and makers of magical experiences that promote creative expression and kindness in support of a common cause.”
“Our signature collaborative approach for teams to work in a fun, imaginative, and meaningful way always opens doors,” shared Faeriessance VP Ed Shivokevich. “In support of ASD Awareness, we are fortunate to include helping hands from the Bridges to Adelphi Program and the Hofstra University Saltzman Center: Diagnostic & Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders.”
“We look forward to tea with Mrs. Coe at Planting Fields,” added the Lilac Faery, “and always remember, we need pollinator friends for berries to make jam and faeries LOVE jam!”
Faeriessance™—a Renaissance of Fae—is a faery-maker studio in Northport, NY, that creates Realm Experiences. Guild members give the gift of Fae to challenged children and believe that all types of creative expression can change lives and communities along with a few core tenets: acceptance, kindness, positivity, grit, and grace.
