There’s nothing like fresh honey! 🍯

This week we installed Russian nucleus colonies, or "nucs" for short. This is how we maintain Russian honeybee genetics in our apiary. These colonies come with 10 thousand workers and one queen, but within a month or so they will be up to 50 thousand strong in two boxes! We are hoping to get some delicious honey from these colonies and all of the hives who survived the winter!

We just put together a different type of product with some shiny new containers! These honeycomb slabs were cut out of a top-bar beehive; for those of you who aren't beekeeping geeks, that means the comb was built naturally without any plastic foundation inside, making it 100% edible!
