Since I started on my tape weaving journey, Eleanor Bittle has always been an inspiration. Although I never had a chance to meet her in person, yesterday, I had the most wonderful opportunity to visit Historic Trappe and part of Eleanor’s personal collection of tapes.

Seeing how she saved documents, articles and newspaper clippings, how she wrote her ideas and being able to put my tape next to hers helped me connect with her and her prized collection in such a unique way. I truly feel we were of similar minds.

I am so thankful to everyone that helped me make this possible. I’m already looking forward to return to revisit the collection.

I will post more photos later, for now I am processing everything I got to see.

Good Sunday Morning!

In the last month we have seen an increase in our followers-over 1000 new ones! We wanted to say WELCOME and THANK YOU for joining Stone House History!

Here are a few things that you may find helpful:

~We have a pinned 📌 post that has our most up to date calendar of events. I recommend that you jot down dates on your calendar if an event is of interest.

~We also try to post before and after events with photos or recaps to help spread the word about the sites we visit and what’s happening.

~If you look through our page and think ...’hey I bet so and so may like this page’ go ahead and invite them- the more the merrier!

~If you think your event or an event you attend would be made just that much better by us attending- PLEASE share with us so that we can add it to the calendar! 🗓

~We do sell our wares so if you want to get tapes or treen or see something you like, please comment or message us! We take cash (at events) cards (through Square) or PayPal!

~And lastly, we love it very much when you like 👍 , love ❤️ or react to a post, comment or even better share our posts. This is how we grow and like most small mom n pop shops we could really use the extra boost this year.

Happy Saturday!

A couple weeks ago Jay found a whole log of Pin Oak at Fort Loudoun PA during across the centuries event. He took time throughout the weekend to start work on a very fun bench. That day he got the log rived into parts, the legs worked up, and the bench seat section rived out. He took a few days off for other events and tasks but this week he finished the bench!

While this is a fantastic bench it is not for sale- as it will be staying in camp with us!

Last video from Dill’s Tavern. Here is Jay working in a spoon! It was so wonderful to have a nice dry space on a rainy day to work and create. Thank you to Dill’s for allowing us to come!
