BTTF is revamping our Free Book Sponsorship Program and we need your help! 📚

We originally launched our Monthly Book Sponsorship Program back in 2020 for Black trans women to be able to receive free copies of literature each month. We’ve done this as a part of our commitment to investing in the lives of Black trans women, with a recognition that not only must we continue to pour resources into community, but that community engagement in political education is a necessary part of the work required in the fight for Black and trans liberation.

Through the years we’ve distributed hundreds of books to Black trans women around the country,( Captive Genders, Black on Both Sides, Black Anarchism and the Black Radical Tradition- to name a few). We unfortunately had to pause our Book Sponsorship Program last year due to funding constraints.

Due to high demand, we are restructuring for a relaunch of our Free Book Sponsorship Program. We are actively reaching out to authors whose work aligns with our values, to find those willing to partner with us to get free books out to community members.

Spending less money on books means we can support more women through our cash-based assistance programs.

If you’re an author and want to help us get free books out to Black trans people, hit us up! If you can connect us to an author, please do!

Shoutout to , , & who have already committed to supporting us with copies of their works to redistribute!

We were honored to be in Durham this year for 2nd annual Black Trans Short Film Festival! 🎥

We are so happy to have been able to help get more Black trans women out to the festival this year, to be part of something special - a community gathering and container that uplifted our stories and held us all in ways that we truly deserve.

To say it was magical is an understatement. The power. The talent. The beauty. The love. The Joy. The Black trans joy that poured and overflowed in and out of the space for 3 full days. The Ancestors filled the room alongs with us. This was dreams manifested.

Congratulations 🏆 to , , , and all the incredible filmmakers whose work brought us smiles, tears, screams, laughter, and space for collective dreaming. ✨

We look forward to coming back and bringing more folks along with us next year! 💜

May is Mental Health Awareness month, and as abolitionists committed to community care, BTTF is proud to be partnering with as a community sponsor for the convening! 🫶🏽

Bringing together Black organizers, healers, cultural workers, clinicians, and community leaders - through shared learning spaces, participatory workshops, and collective practice, participants will build practical, non-carceral skills for community-based crisis care.

At a time of escalating state violence, political repression, economic instability, and social fragmentation, this convening is rooted in a core belief: emotional regulation as a strategic practice and collective care as essential movement infrastructure—not an afterthought.💙

Tune in on May 21st for a discussion with , , and on “Fighting For The Mental Health of Black Trans Communities: What You Can Do Now”.

The Black Trans Short Film Festival (BTSFF) is an annual film festival organized by Comfrey Films.

From April 30–May 2 in Durham, NC, Comfrey Films will bring hundreds of folks together to experience films written, directed, or produced by Black Trans, Gender Non-Conforming, & Intersex folks.

Over 3 powerful days, we will co-create a space that centers the healing and transformative culture work that Black Trans folks are leading in our communities.

Black Trans Travel Fund is thrilled to be partnering with Comfrey Films to make the space more accessible to more women from around the country this year!

Congratulations to our Flight Sponsorship recipients, Elle Halo, Jay Mimes, and Tia Jackson! We can’t wait to have you with us!

This month BTTF traveled to Havana, Cuba again to redistribute resources to our comrades who continue to be impacted by U.S. blockades, sanctions, fuel shortages and rolling blackouts. 🇨🇺

Thanks to the many generous people who donated to RACT through the fundraiser, or donated to us directly to support our travels, or shipped/handed off physical donations for us to bring, we were able to provide RACT members with over $8000 USD, and brought out hundreds of pounds of aid including electronics, gender affirming care, hormone an other medical supplies!!! 🙌🏾

There will be more trips, so please consider becoming a monthly donor to sustain this work, or reach out if you have supplies to donate to support our local and international mutual aid initiatives.

Please follow and connect with to continue to support our trans siblings in Cuba. ✊🏾

Special shoutout to and , along with and for your contributions! We love getting to partner with other trans led orgs, and businesses and initiatives to get resources out to community! 💜
