One key takeaway: In conflicts from Gaza to Sudan, there is a growing disregard for international humanitarian law (IHL) and human rights—reflected in brutal attacks on civilians, targeted violence against aid workers, and the politicization of humanitarian assistance.

The international community must urgently recommit to the rules of war and hold violators accountable. Upholding IHL is not only a moral and legal obligation—it’s also essential for building the foundations of lasting peace and protecting space for humanitarian and diplomatic engagement.
