Happy National Honey Bee Day! 🐝

Today we’re celebrating the honey bees that make every jar of honey possible, the beekeepers who care for them, and the flowering landscapes that sustain them. What’s blooming throughout the season shapes where bees forage...and ultimately the color, aroma, and flavor of the honey they produce.

Celebrate today by supporting a local beekeeper, planting something that blooms, or learning a little more about the bees in your community.

Then keep the celebration going at NYC Honey Fest, where you can meet local beekeepers, taste their honey, and shop the Honey Marketplace!

📅 Saturday, September 12
⏰ 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

🐝 MEET THE BEEKEEPERS: ROCKAWAY HONEYWORKS

Rockaway Honeyworks was created through RISE’s youth development program, where high school students learn hands-on about beekeeping, honey, and the vital role pollinators play in a healthy ecosystem. Their honey is made by bees foraging across Rockaway’s coastal landscape, including beach plum, goldenrod, milkweed, and seaside goldenrod.

Meet the team behind Rockaway Honeyworks and taste the honey they’ll be bringing to NYC Honey Fest!

The flavor of honey begins with flowers, predominantly Linden blooms in NYC. Bees gathering nectar from different trees, gardens, wildflowers, and other plants can create honey with completely different colors, aromas, and flavors...even within the same city.

Come taste just how varied honey can be at NYC Honey Fest on Saturday, September 12, at the B106th Street Boardwalk in Rockaway Park.
