Silas Shabelewska Created & Directed THE SHORT CIRCUIT FILM FESTIVAL, that was launched in Paris France in 1990 with The American Center, to promote American Short Films. The festival showcased celebrities filmmakers shorts along NEW & UPCOMING TALENTS. The festival premiere took place at The Palais de Tokyo in Paris in October 1990. The festival showcased all the short films by: TIM BURTON, GEORG

E LUCAS, WILLIAM WEGMAN, DARYL HANNAH (among others). Conferences and symposiums took place with industry professionals. In 1993, The Festival took place in Monaco under the patronage of SAS Prince Albert of Monaco. In 1995, the Festival was playing in Paris at the GAUMONT THEATRES on Les Champs Elysées and won a huge audience succes. ROMAN POLANSKI was seen there and came to show his support among other celebrity filmmakers. More details can be read on the website presently being created to commemorate the Festival.

On January 28, 2019 the filmmakers who participated in the 1st Short Circuit Film Festival in Paris in 1990 at Palais de Tokyo, met in NYC at METROGRAPH with Silas Shabelewska-von Morisse (the producer of the film festival), 29 years after....a fabulous reunion.

Our Story

Silas Shabelewska Created & Directed THE SHORT CIRCUIT FILM FESTIVAL in association with The American Center in Paris. The festival aimed to promote the best American Short Films (courts metrages). The festival showcased celebrities filmmakers short films along with NEW & UPCOMING TALENTS from NYU film school. The festival premiere took place at The Palais de Tokyo in Paris in October 1990 and showed short films by NYU film students as well as films by students from La Femis alongside short films by: TIM BURTON, GEORGE LUCAS, WILLIAM WEGMAN, DARYL HANNAH (among others). Conferences and symposiums took place with industry professionals (SPIKE LEE, DANIEL TOSCAN DU PLANTIER, DANIELLE THOMPSON, ALAIN ROCCA, JAMES SCHAMUS, SAMUEL FULLER, etc.).

In 1993, The Festival took place in Monaco under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. JULIE DELPY & MATT DILON attended. Were showcased Films by TIM BURTON, WILLIM WEGMAN, GEORGE LUCAS, LAURA DERN along films by American young talents.

In 1995, the Festival was showcased in Paris at the GAUMONT THEATRES on Les Champs Elysées. Films by LAURA DERN, TIM BURTON, GEORGE LUCAS, STEVE BUSCEMI, and many more won a huge audience success. ROMAN POLANSKI was seen there and came to show his support among other celebrity filmmakers.
