Okay, okay, we are in full fall mode too…bring on the changing leaves, pumpkin spiced lattes, hoodies, flannels, and perfect campfire weather. 🍁🍂 Howeverrrr, we can’t help but share what we have in store for spring! Why? Because even though it’s full-fledged fall season now, that also means planning, purchasing, and actually planting our spring bulbs.
Yes, did you know that many spring flower bulbs such as tulips need to be planted in the fall because they need 12-16 weeks of cold temperatures or chilled time in order to bloom properly? 🥶🌷
Anyways, back to our exciting announcement…we’ve decided to add a spring season u-pick flower field! 🥳🌸 This field will consist of several varieties of tulips including double bloom tulips (closely resembling peonies), daffodils, lilies, allium, gladiolus, hyacinths, ranunculus, and more!
If you remember back to earlier this year, we had planned to host a one day tulip and kite-flying event on the farm. 🪁 However, due to the unusually hot and prematurely warm temperatures, the tulips bloomed two weeks earlier than expected (followed by the deep freeze that destroyed the majority of the fruit crop in the northeastern US).
So, for the 2027 spring season, we decided to do things a little differently. Instead of just a one day event, we are going to open our field up for u-pick flowers the whole season long. We also decided to expand our selection of flowers from only tulips to a wider variety of well-loved spring favorites. We still plan to host special days/weekends such as picnic and u-pick days and kite-flying days. But, the flexibility of making it a self-serve, u-pick operation will benefit everyone involved, especially when it comes to allowing customers a longer range of time to enjoy the flower field! 🥳🙌🏻 More specifics including pricing details will be announced in the spring. The spring season is estimated to begin in the middle to end of April.
Okay, now back to immersing ourselves in full fledged autumn activities! 🍂🎃
