Since 2014 NOLA Chamber Fest has encouraged, inspired, and motivated musicians through the experience of tight-knit collaboration and artistic independence that only chamber music can offer. We provide learning and performance opportunities for elementary, middle and high school-aged musicians, college and graduate ensembles, community musicians and today’s top emerging professional talent. Our five-day festival includes performances by world renowned chamber ensembles, an online competition, masterclasses, and Creativity Day for local musicians. 🎼✨Competition Prep Tip: Study the scores of your competition pieces as a group!🎼🎶

Want to play your piece to its fullest potential? Dive into the score! It’s the blueprint for everything you want to perform. When you analyze it closely, you gain a clearer understanding of the musical story and how to shape it the way the composer intended. Studying as a group makes it more engaging, and you learn much more about each other’s parts!
Things to consider when score studying:
What is the key center in each section?
Who has the melody at any given moment?
What role do you play in the harmony?
What cues can you listen for?

🎼 Audition Prep Tip: Don’t just practice alone—get feedback from your friends! ✨
Playing for others helps you step outside of your own head and experience your performance from a fresh perspective. Sometimes we don’t notice habits, strengths, or areas for growth until someone else points them out. 👂

💡 Try this:
* Host a mini “mock audition” for a few friends or family.
* Ask them what stood out most (tone, expression, confidence, etc.).
* Notice how nerves feel different with an audience—it’s the best practice for the real thing! 
Remember, every time you share your music, you grow as both an artist and performer. 🌟

🎶 Staying motivated can be tough this time of year — school is finished for the year, the days are longer, and the urge to do anything but practice is real. We get it. 💛
But remember: practicing your fundamentals every day, even just for five minutes is like eating vegetables for your playing. It keeps your playing healthy. Be creative to motivate yourself. Practice performing, read chamber music with friends, record yourself, improvise — and always take some time for your scales and long tones. Soon it will become part of your daily routine like brushing your teeth, and your playing and confidence will soar to new heights.🌟
