Lydia Rachal is a joyful, bright, and loving 3-year-old whose smile lights up every room she enters. Earlier this year, her family learned she has Sanfilippo Syndrome Type B, a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder often called childhood dementia. Lydia is still in the early stages of the disease, and her parents are fighting to give her the chance every child deserves; to grow, learn, play, and live a full life.

The community is coming together on January 10, 2026, from 8 AM to 3 PM at Parc Natchitoches for “Cars 4 Lydia,” a special event dedicated to supporting a very brave little girl. 💜✨

This day will be filled with cars, music, friendly competition, and heartfelt community support. Whether you’re entering your vehicle, joining the bass or co****le competitions, or simply attending to show love, your presence truly makes a difference. Lydia is a three-year-old from our community in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She’s a happy toddler who loves clapping, playing with her big sister, and chasing chickens in the yard. Life was normal for her parents until last April.

At 18 months, Lydia was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type B — a rare disease often called childhood Alzheimer’s. Before that, she hit every milestone. The only signs were ear infections, belly issues, and bad sleep.

Then her grandma saw a TikTok of another little girl with Sanfilippo who looked just like her. Her parents took that video and photos to their pediatrician. He’d never seen a case, but ordered genetic testing. A week later, it came back positive.

Sanfilippo is a terminal brain disease. Kids slowly lose the ability to talk, walk, and eat. They unlearn everything they’ve learned, and most only live into their teen years. Doctors told them, “There’s no cure. Take her home and love her.”

Instead, they decided to fight.

Now this family, Cure Sanfilippo Foundation, and 14 other families are racing to fund treatment through a clinical trial for 15 kids, including Lydia: six million dollars total, with 3.8 million due by December 1st, 2025. They’ve already raised 3.2 million.

And those beautiful thick eyebrows everyone compliments? Along with her constant ear infections, bloated little belly, and sleepless nights, they were some of the early signs that quietly gave away the diagnosis.
