Life has been a whirlwind these past two weeks!
First, my sweet pup Osa had to make an emergency vet visit. She wasn’t acting like herself, and after some tests, we discovered she has a massive tumor on her spleen. Now we’re saving up for surgery to have it removed. It’s expensive and nerve-wracking, but she’s been an amazing little helper with raising all the kittens over the years. She’s the sweetest soul, and we’re doing everything we can to take care of her. I’ve been making bracelets and selling at a discount to try and raise quick funds… but I had to take a 3 day break…
I swallowed a wasp. Yep, you read that right. How, you ask? I left a drink outside, didn’t check the straw, and in a bizarre knee-jerk reaction, I swallowed the mystery bug rather than spitting it out. Genius, right? I realized my mistake when it started stinging its way down my throat. I’ve had bad reactions to wasp stings before, once, my hand swelled up to my elbow like a latex glove water balloon. Not a fun time. So, I popped some Benadryl and hightailed it to the ER when the numbness kicked in. The next three days were odd, my skin hurt to the touch, my throat swelled up on one side (whick looked fantastic 🙃) , and the headache... oof.
After that little adventure, I decided to take on the kitchen floor. Turns out the installers didn’t leave enough gap between the floor and the walls, and with a floating floor, that’s a big no-no. Without that gap, the joints can snap, and the whole thing could fail. Luckily, we had some extra flooring left over, so I got to work fixing it. Definitely not the highlight of my week.
In other news, my attempt at quitting 🚬? Still a work in progress. I did well for a few days and have cut back, but I haven’t fully kicked the habit yet.
And just when I thought things couldn’t get crazier, when I went to the store yesterday the cat distribution system decided I needed three sickly kittens more than coffee filters. After a stint in the cage out back, they’ve taken over the bathroom. They’re on eye meds, and I’ll be starting them on antibiotics soon. Hopefully, we can find them homes, but for now, they’re here. Despite their fever coats, they’re cute as can be and are finally coming out of hiding for some pets.
I swear, if my life were a TV show, everyone would say it’s way too over the top…
It’s all funny in a “what could possibly go wrong now?” Kinda way… But hey, I’m not crazy… probably. If I didn’t laugh about it, I’d definitely cry.
Always check your straws! And if you forget and slurp up a bug, for Petes sake spit it out!
