Recently added to our DJ roster, please welcome Lorena Diez!

Originally from Mar del Plata, Argentina, Lorena Diez has earned a distinguished reputation as a tango organizer, teacher, DJ, and multidisciplinary artist. Since 2008, she has been a dedicated and vital presence in Miami’s thriving tango community.

She is currently the organizer and DJ of two prominent Miami-based milongas: Open Air Tango on Lincoln Road and Las Pebetas Milonga, both established in 2017.

Lorena’s musical style is defined by her refined curation of Golden Age tango classics, enriched by her extensive knowledge of contemporary orchestras emerging from Buenos Aires. Her DJ sets are celebrated for their dynamic energy, emotional depth, and ability to create immersive dance experiences. She has been invited to perform at milongas, festivals, and marathons across the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and Argentina.

Beyond her work as a DJ, Lorena is a visual artist and tango costume designer, and the founder of Sur-Real Designs, a brand she has passionately developed since 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida, a foundation that informs her artistic approach to tango as a living, evolving form of expression and cultural dialogue. Her work has been recognized with the Miami Individual Artist (MIA) Award from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs in 2023 and 2025.

Lorena will be bringing her DJ skills and her beautiful tango clothes to the festival in September. Make sure to get your tickets to come and join us before Early Bird registration ends on May 1st!

James Valentino will not only be teaching and performing alongside Dagny Miller, but he will also be DJing for us during the festival.

James Valentino is a passionate and dedicated tango teacher, DJ, and organizer in Detroit, Michigan. He’s the creator of the Motown Tango Marathon in Detroit. He has been teaching and DJing for over a decade, and his enthusiasm for the tango is evident when meeting him. James has a unique style that combines his love of music with his love for dance. He always makes sure to connect with his guests, and his energy and enthusiasm on the dance floor is contagious. With his drive and creativity, James is making a lasting impression in the tango DJing world. He is constantly pushing himself to stay ahead of the curve and explore new music genres as well as the many golden age orchestras. James is passionate about connecting with other DJs and teachers and learning from their experiences, making him a true student and master of the craft.

We're excited to welcome Mariano Bejarano as a DJ to the Montana Tango Festival for 2026!

Mariano Bejarano has DJ’d for over 15 years for milongas, practicas, and festivals in Buenos Aires and throughout the United States. He is constantly researching and digging around in the archives of tango music for new inspiration. As a DJ, Mariano’s main concern is always to keep people dancing. As a dancer himself, Mariano sees DJ’ing as a dynamic relationship with the dancers and as unique every time, requiring the DJ to be perceptive of mood and skill level and flexible with the music. For this reason, Mariano never prepares a list of tandas. Every tanda and cortina is a response to the energy of the dancers.

Let's introduce more of our DJs for this year's festival! Welcome Sandra Sam as a DJ to the Montana Tango Festival 2026

Sandra Sam, a PhD in forensic art authentication and provenance researcher, brings her meticulous attention to detail to the art of tango. Traveling the globe to share her passion for music and dance, she curates harmonized tandas that inspire and captivate dancers everywhere.

She's also an incredible dancer (both leader and follower) and we can't wait to see what she brings to this year's festival.

Introducing the DJs of Montana Tango Fest 2026!! Meet Ken Broom!

🎧 Ken Broom is a seasoned Argentine tango DJ with more than 15 years of experience crafting musical journeys designed specifically for social dancers. Known for his dancer-focused approach, Ken curates elegant, flowing tandas of tango, vals, and milonga that honor the Golden Age tradition while thoughtfully incorporating contemporary and alternative selections when the moment calls for it. His sets emphasize musicality, floor energy, and the subtle emotional arc that keeps a milonga vibrant from the first tanda to the last.

From major tango marathons to beloved community milongas, his sets create the perfect balance of rhythm, emotion, and flow. Ken has been a featured guest DJ at many respected tango events, including Spoleto Tango on the Beach (2006–present), Queen City Tango Marathon (2018–present), Las Carolinas Tango Marathons, and many more.
