THE GREAT FEAT brings adventure, friendship, and a whole lot of Colombian spirit to Miami! 🪀🇨🇴

Colorful, playful, and made for audiences of all ages, The Great Feat (La Gran Hazaña) celebrates the imagination of childhood and the power of friendship, solidarity, and teamwork.

Directed by Luber Yesid Zúñiga Ordóñez ( Yesid Zuñiga ), the Colombian short comes to HHFF for its Florida Premiere with an impressive festival journey, including Best Latin American Children’s Short Film at FICValdivia, Best Narrative Short Film at the Moscow International Children’s Film Festival, and Best Petit Chiot Film at Panorama du Cinéma Colombien in Paris.

What if the objects we play with as children become the foundation for the art we create as adults?

A Doll’s House ( A Doll’s House Documentary ) introduces us to Puerto Rican multidisciplinary artist Alfonso Muñoz Alma ( Alfonso Munoz ), whose childhood imagination—building dollhouses and fantastical scenes from discarded objects—grew into an artistic practice that challenges traditional visual culture.

Directed by José Vélez Arocho and José Alameda, the documentary explores how Puerto Rican women and the LGBTQ+ community have shaped Alfonso’s life and work, and how his art creates space for people historically left outside traditional narratives.

Rooted in the Colombian immigrant experience and set against a distinctly Florida backdrop, Tesoro captures childhood, belonging, and the complicated feeling of growing up between places.

Directed by Samuel Correa ( Samuel ), the short comes to HHFF for its Miami Premiere after official selections at the Charlotte Film Festival ( Charlotte Film Festival ), Tallahassee Film Festival ( Tallahassee Film Festival ), and Buffalo International Film Festival ( Buffalo Int'l Film Festival ).

A powerful Dominican documentary that has already made its mark on the international festival circuit is coming to HHFF for its Florida Premiere.

In Scarlet Girls ( Niñas Escarlata | Scarlet Girls ), women and girls across the Dominican Republic share intimate experiences of forced motherhood and unsafe, clandestine abortion in a country where abortion is banned in all circumstances. Through personal testimonies and evocative imagery, director Paula Cury Melo ( Paula Cury ) brings their voices to the screen in a deeply human exploration of womanhood, autonomy, and the consequences of one of the world’s most restrictive abortion laws.

The film celebrated its World Premiere at CPH:DOX ( CPH:DOX ) and its North American Premiere at SXSW ( SXSW ), before going on toSXSW Best Ibero-American Documentary and Best Director at the 2026 Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG ). Its journey has alFICGncluded the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, FIFDH Geneva, and Hot Docs.

From Sundance ( The Sundance Institute ) and Berlinale ( Berlinale ) to festivals around the world, one of the most celebrated documentaries in our 2026 lineup is coming to HHFF!

Every Christmas in Penjamillo, Michoacán, the annual jaripeo brings together locals and migrants returning from the United States to celebrate rodeo, cowboy culture, and tradition. But beneath the spectacle exists another world of fleeting glances, secret encounters, q***r desire, and lives navigating a culture deeply shaped by machismo.

Directed by Efraín Mojica ( Yin ) and Rebecca Zweig ( r e b e c c a z w e i g ), JARIPEO ( Jaripeo Documental ) blends Super 8, stylized memories, and raw vérité filmmaking to explore the beauty and wounds of a home left behind.
