This group started as Aceites y Jabones Luca de Tena in 1840, and it was considered the oldest olive oil Company in Spain. The name of this brand was taken from the Spanish Colony La Española island, where Hernando Columbus (Christopher Columbus’ son) started in the 16th century the exportations of olive oil produced at Hacienda Guzman in Seville. This factory is nowadays owned by La Española Oils
. La Española’s international projection and leadership was reinforced when it was included in the Leading Brands of Spain Forum in 2002. The steps to the consolidation of La Española brand in the most important markets have been constant. In 2004 it was settled in Asia, reaching a 10% of the market share.
