Extreme Motor Sports & Music Festival
What began in 2004 at Zephyr Stadium parking facility as Psych-yle Fest, initially founded as “New Orleans Most Extreme Games & Music Festival,” carried over to July 2005, same venue, but changed the name to Psych Fest. Still subtitled as “New Orleans Most Extreme Games & Music Festival,” the second annual was by far much more successful. Psych-yle Fest 2004, being a one day event, attracted 600 spectators. Branched out more for the second annual, Psych Fest 2005, being a two day event, attracted 8000 spectators total for the weekend. Began shooting for a third annual, but Hurricane Katrina arrived and devastated. For years prior, not any company, corporate or small business wished to be involved, for there was no one in the area to attract to the event as spectators…cannot say I blame them.
Nearly eight years later, finally at the point to hold enough vendors and searching for sponsors. Psych Fest will be held at Zephyr Stadium parking facility, March 22-23, 2014. Hours are Saturday 11AM-9PM, and Sunday noon- 8PM. The event is two days, but have the entire facility Friday through Monday, March 21-24, utilizing Friday as a set up day and the following Monday as a take down day. When gates open both days, adult tickets are $20.00 and children ten years of age and under are $10.00.
What was “New Orleans Most Extreme Games & Music Festival,” converted to “New Orleans Motor Sports & Music Festival.” Completely doing away with the extreme games, and strictly hiring paid professionals to perform live only feet away from spectators. The same performers of the two first annuals are contacted and coming back, including Sudden Impact Monster Truck, Patrick Stephens in sport bike free style, and The American Racing Lawnmower Association. This event will hold all kinds of free style, including Freestyle Motocross, a half pipe housing skate boards and BMX, and flat land skate board and BMX. On top of that, various styles of racing, including two teams from drifting imports, vehicle demolition derby, and our own 1/8 mile drag racing on the premises, which spectators with toys may race upon disclaimer signature and vehicle inspection. In addition to the previous events, carnival rides, inflatable bounce and obstacle courses, vehicle show off, boxing ring with exhibition matches, and military tank flattening cars with possibly a Black Hawk Helicopter landing during the event. Not to mention live music and good food, on a wide range, the entire weekend. There is no other event in the United States, which holds all of this entertainment, at the same venue, in one weekend!
