Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy every day, from time spent with family and friends to the ability to build strong communities and pursue our dreams.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who never made it home and remember the families who carry their legacy forward.

We remember. 🇺🇸

Sometimes doing the right thing means taking a step back instead of forcing something forward.

After a lot of difficult conversations and careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to postpone HPW: Backpacks & Bodyslams.

This wasn’t an easy choice. We’ve poured months of work, planning, heart, and hope into this event. So many incredible vendors, sponsors, talent, supporters, and community members believed in what we were building, and we cannot thank you enough for that support.

But at the end of the day, HPW was built on a very specific foundation:
Family. Community. Integrity. Purpose.

And rather than rush into something that felt compromised, disconnected, or misaligned with those values, we chose to pause, regroup, and come back the right way.

Because this was always meant to be bigger than one wrestling show.

Truthfully? This picture says more than we ever could.

At the end of the day, this is what HPW is really about. Neighbors. Families. Kids making memories. A wrestling ring in the yard that somehow turned into a community movement bigger than we ever imagined.

We know some people may count us out right now. That’s fine. Let them.

HPW isn’t built on hype.
It’s built on heart.

And heart doesn’t disappear because of one setback.

We’ll take this time to reset, realign, and make sure that when HPW returns, it returns stronger, smarter, and surrounded by people who truly believe in the same mission we do.

This is not goodbye.
This is not the end.
And HPW isn’t going anywhere.

We’ll see y’all again soon.

We feel it’s important to address some confusion regarding HPW: Backpacks & Bodyslams.

From the very beginning, our vision for this event has remained the same:

To create a family-friendly, community-focused experience where families can enjoy free activities, games, local vendors, and live professional wrestling, all while supporting a school supply drive for local kids.

Recently, our former charity partner decided that our event structure no longer aligned with the direction they wanted to take. After a great deal of thought and discussion, we made the decision to move forward independently. That separation was handled professionally and respectfully.

Since then, we’ve become aware that misinformation about our event and our intentions has been shared publicly as fact, as well as privately. So we want to clearly explain how this event has always been structured.

At no point did HPW collect donations on behalf of another organization, and at no point were vendors or sponsors told that their participation fees directly purchased school supplies.

We have been transparent from the beginning:
Vendor and sponsor support helps cover the operational costs of producing the event itself. School supplies are intended to be purchased through event revenue, fundraising efforts, and direct community support tied to the event.

We have maintained documentation, planning materials, and records throughout this process, and we stand confidently behind the integrity of our work and our intentions.

Most importantly:
Backpacks & Bodyslams is still happening.

We are still committed to this community.
We are still committed to helping local kids.
And we are still committed to building something families can be proud to support.

There will always be obstacles when building something new, but we believe in this event, and we believe in this community.

Thank you to everyone who has continued supporting HPW through both the excitement and the challenges. We’re going to keep moving forward, and we truly believe the best days for this event are still ahead.

🚑 McDowell County Rescue Squad 🚑

We’re incredibly thankful to have the McDowell County Rescue Squad involved with HPW: Backpacks & Bodyslams.

Their team will be providing medical standby coverage during the event to help ensure a safe environment for the families, kids, vendors, and community members attending throughout the day.

They’ll also be setting up an informational table at the event so attendees can learn more about the important services they provide throughout McDowell County.

We truly appreciate everything these first responders do for our community and we’re honored to have them involved with the event.
