Greg Dana’s connection to Marblehead High School theater stretches back to 1965, when, as a shy freshman, he was talked into auditioning for “Little Mary Sunshine.” He landed the role of a forest ranger — and never really left. Aside from college and a two-year stint in the military, Dana re...

What amazing year for the performing arts at MHS! 🎭🎶❤️🖤

From Mamma Mia! and Acappellooza to winter and spring concerts, Christmas Walk performances, student theater productions, cabaret nights, and more, our students have shared so much talent, creativity, and joy with the Marblehead community this year.

These experiences are made possible through the dedication of our incredible students and teachers, along with the support of families, volunteers, and our broader community. Friends of the Performing Arts is proud to support these programs throughout the year, helping with production and transportation costs, scholarships, tech week and pre-concert dinners, promotion and decor, and other behind-the-scenes needs that help our students shine.

As we wrap up another wonderful season, we hope you’ll consider making a gift to FoPA’s Spring Donation Drive. Every contribution — large or small — directly supports opportunities for MHS student performers and helps our performing arts programs thrive.

Last night’s Performing Arts Banquet was a wonderful celebration of our talented MHS students across orchestra, chorus, band, theater, and ensembles. We are so proud to recognize a year filled with hard work, creativity, growth, and achievement. 🎭🎶

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated teachers – Ms. Inglis, Ms. Frias, Mr. Kenneally and Ms. Skeffington – who continually inspire our students both on and off the stage. The joy and excitement throughout the room last night spoke volumes about the supportive, positive community they create for our students every day. ❤️🖤

For decades, Greg Dana has been a cornerstone of Marblehead High School theater, mentoring generations of students and helping bring productions to life behind the scenes.

Mr. Dana retired last year after 45 years of serving Marblehead Public Schools as a math teacher and technical director, and MHS senior Mollie Farber is leading an effort to honor his legacy. The fundraiser aims to raise $3,000 to support the naming of the MHS auditorium in his honor, along with a permanent dedication plaque and celebration recognizing his years of service to the performing arts community.

If Mr. Dana, MHS theater, or the performing arts community has been meaningful to you or your family, we hope you’ll consider making a contribution, sharing this post or sharing your own story about Mr. Dana in the comments below.
