Treasures of the Silk Road: A Journey Through Sound and Craftsmanship

Dear friends and patrons of the arts,
The McCalla School at Indiana University, the Silk Road Center, and the Silk Road Ensemble are delighted to announce the opening of a major new exhibition, Treasures of the Silk Road: A Journey Through Sound and Craftsmanship. This exhibition features one of the four largest collections of Silk Road–related musical instruments in North America, comparable in scale only to the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota.
The exhibition highlights the cultural histories, artistic traditions, and remarkable craftsmanship behind these instruments, many of which have never before been displayed publicly in the United States.
We warmly invite you to join us for the opening reception on Friday, September 25, from 4–6 p.m. at McCalla School (located at the corner of Tenth and Indiana Streets).
