Wishing everyone a blessed Beltane, from the Growing Home collective and may the fires ignite all your passions ready to be birthed.

It’s been beautiful to take the time to fully integrate the experience and reflect on how wonderful last weekend was at our third annual Beltane Gathering at Buck Creek Sanctuary.

From the community we created to the moments we shared, we feel deep gratitude for every part of it.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, artists, facilitators, musicians, and craftspeople—we truly couldn’t do this without you. The week leading up held a few uncertainties around weather and small details, yet we stayed rooted in trust. After months of care and preparation, we knew it would come together in the way it was meant to.

We had a wonderful Maypole parade with live music from Jim and friends and enjoyed music in the evening from Brandon IntuAtune Hilditch, Ben Short, & Devon Snell

We cherish showcasing a wide variety of art and experiences at our events. A special shout-out to our installation artists Beige Price, Grace Herrmann, Tara Midkiff. Thank you for all the work you put into your pieces! We want our gatherings to engage every sense, and this one truly did. We deeply enjoyed Rachelle’s sound in the sacred circle and Eric Moore LAc who offered acupuncture in the woods Saturday morning. We are so grateful to have offerings that support restoration and a deeper sense of well-being.

And a special thank you to Danielle West (Moonpie) for bridging the region’s intentional communities in her workshop, helping us continue exploring the deeper layers of connection and shared purpose.

We at Growing Home appreciate community showing up for community. Each gathering is an opportunity to keep building something resilient together—rooted in care, creativity, and a shared vision for what’s possible.

Overall, thank you to everyone who continues to show up and take part in this collective dream we’re weaving.

This was our eighth event overall and our sixth at Buck Creek Sanctuary, and it’s been a humbling experience producing these gatherings over the years.

We look forward with excitement to when we gather again. 🌱

Blessed Beltane! 🔥

🎨 Facepainting

Sophia and Valarie have been friends since the eighth grade. Since then they have both shared a love for all forms of arts and crafts. They have often painted and crafted together (they have many unfinished projects lol). Valarie and Sophia both have cats and a dog each and have a love for plants and wildlife. When the two hangout they usually get coffee (or tea), perhaps do nails (Valarie is very talented in this hobbie), and usually just hang. They both look forward to the opportunity to meet new people and paint theirs faces at such an exciting event.

🌿 Connecting to the Beauty of Buck Creek Sanctuary

We will immerse ourselves in the beauty of spring at Buck Creek Sanctuary. Which will include identifying the spring ephemerals and wildflowers, forging the emerging herbs, like spicebush, and wood mint. Experiencing a Sassafras tea ceremony. And having a wander to connect with nature in your own special way.

Ken Kleiber LMT has been practicing massage therapy since 1998. Over the years, Ken has studied a wide range of healing practices. He is a Certified Havening Practitioner, Reiki Master Teacher, and an Authentic Ta**ra Practitioner. 🌿 Community Acupuncture for Spring and the Wood Element

Spring is the season of growth, vision, plans and breaking down our internal barriers. Acupuncture points are powerful tools for attuning us to and healing our inner archetypes of the wood element. Community acupuncture will be done outside, on a mat or camping chair. 5 or so points will be curated for the healing of our dreams, vision and creativity action.

Eric is a licensed acupuncturist practicing classical 5 element acupuncture. He has a massage & bodywork degree from pacific college, and a master of acupuncture from Academy for Five element acupuncture. He has spent over 15 years working with plant medicines.

Eric’s work seeks to empower the elements of nature within us so that we can live our true path with ease and clarity.

This activation will be on a first come first serve basis so make sure to sign up.
We’re grateful to have Eric sharing this offering with our community once again.

🌿 Innocence, Initiation & the Practice of Praise

In this 90-minute session at Growing Home: Beltane Gathering, we’ll explore what it means to go through “initiation” in a human life, through both a short teaching and a simple practice in the land.
We’ll begin with a brief introduction to Bill Plotkin’s Soulcentric Developmental Wheel, a map that describes eight stages of human development in relationship with nature and psyche. We’ll focus especially on Stage Four, often understood as a kind of initiation—when the way we see ourselves begins to shift, and a deeper sense of meaning or direction can start to emerge.

From there, we’ll move into a guided “Praise Wander” at the East—the direction of dawn, spring, and new beginnings. This is a slow, simple walking practice of noticing and appreciating the living world around us. It’s not about doing it right, but about being present and letting attention become a form of gratitude and connection.
The session will include a bit of teaching, reflection, and time wandering outdoors together. It’s designed to be accessible, grounded, and open to anyone curious about the themes of life transition, nature connection, and simple presence.

Doug Van Houten is a guide, mentor, and facilitator devoted to supporting human development toward wholeness, ecological belonging, and a mature participation in the ongoing life of the Earth. His work is rooted in soulcentric and nature-based traditions, drawing on dreamwork, deep imagery, somatic awareness, poetry, and creative expression within wild and ceremonial learning spaces. He is influenced by teachers and inspirators including Bill Plotkin and the Animas Valley Institute, Joanna Macy, David Whyte, Mary Oliver, Matthew Fox, and Brian Swimme, among others.
At the heart of his practice is a devotion to what Thomas Berry called “The Great Work”—the transformation of human consciousness into a mutually enhancing relationship with the Earth and the wider universe. Doug supports others in descending into the depths of imagination, grief, and gift, and returning with their unique offerings in service to life. Alongside his guiding and mentoring, he expresses his own path through visual art, wandering, dream tracking, beekeeping, heart-centered activism, and embodied movement practices.

We’re grateful to have Doug sharing this offering with our community.

🌿 A Gentle Awakening: Sound Bath and Yoga

A Gentle Awakening is an intimate, ceremonial experience designed to softly open the body, heart, and spirit. Guided by Rea’s slow, intentional yoga flow, you’ll be invited to move with presence and curiosity, awakening your senses and reconnecting with your breath.

As the body settles, you’ll be held in a Reiki-infused sound bath, by Amie, where soothing vibrations and subtle energy work support deep relaxation, energetic alignment, and inner clarity.
Rooted in the fertile, expansive energy of Beltane, this offering is an invitation to awaken gently… to soften, to receive, and to reconnect with the quiet wisdom within.

Rea loves to paint, create, and adventure. She has been a yoga instructor for three years. Rea feels a deep sense of peace when connected to nature and community.

Amie is a visual artist who practices energy healing. Together they come together to create a healing class through movement and sound. Amie is an Reiki/intuitive energy practitioner who offers Reiki-infused sound baths designed to help people slow down, soften, and reconnect with themselves. She creates calming, supportive spaces where the body can relax and the mind can settle, allowing for gentle release and realignment through sound and energy work. Rea Bouchelon and Amie Hyde are leading this workshop with a background in caregiving and holistic practices, Amie brings a grounded, heart-led approach to what she offers. She’s passionate about helping others feel safe, seen, and more in tune with their own inner guidance, trusting that each person already holds what they need within them.
