Charles "Lil Buck" Riley is a movement artist known for bringing a freestyle-based dance involving intricate footwork, called Memphis Jookin’, to mainstream audiences across the world. Raised in Memphis, TN, he was introduced to the urban street dance style around the age of 14. After moving up in the Jookin ranks he studied ballet and theatre for two years on scholarship. He then rapidly made a niche for himself by adding his own style and imagination to create signature moves – which include gliding across space, and executing poses that seem to defy gravity itself.

In 2011, Lil Buck performed with world-renowned cellist YoYo Ma, to his rendition of Camille Saint-Saens' “The Swan.” Spike Jonze happened to be in the audience and was so blown away by the performance, he recorded it on his phone and posted it on the internet. The video quickly went viral with over 3 million views on YouTube (link below.) Since then, he has performed as “Wink” in Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson: One”, as well as collaborations with Benjamin Millipied, Janelle Monae and Wynton Marsalis, just to name a few.

In 2015, his dancing abilities combined with his unique style began to make him a fashion icon, as he danced alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov in a campaign for Rag & Bone’s Fall/Winter campaign, and appeared in ads for brands such as Gap, Volvo, Kaporal Jeans, and Diesel Jeans. He has also collaborated with the likes of Versace and Nike to design a line of shoes.

Lil Buck continues to defy gravity as he appears in Apple’s AirPods commercial , starred in Lexus’ 2017 Super Bowl commercial, and also had a prominent cameo in Fox’s hit TV Show “Empire” . You can also see some of his moves through the role of the “Mouse King” in Disney’s 2018 Christmas Blockbuster of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”. In 2019, he starred in the Stuart Weitzman campaign with Kendall Jenner, and was also featured in the memorial tribute for the late fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld, in Paris. Kicking off 2020, you can catch him on the silver screen in the movie “Emperor” as he continues to wow and inspire captive audiences around the world.

A choreographer and dancer as well as an activist, Buck is behind MOVEMENT ART IS (M.A.I.), an organization focused on using movement artistry to inspire change in the world. Lil Buck collaborated with dancer Jon Boogz and artist Alexa Meade to create "Color of Reality", a short film addressing gun violence. The film won CNN’s Great Big Story “Art as Impact” Award and Toronto Short Festival’s “Best Experimental Film” and was also nominated for World of Dance’s “Concept Video of the Year”. Buck also starred in the nature inspired short film “Honor Thy Mother” which addresses the need for humans to take better care of our planet.

In present 2020, they have connected all of their short films into a stage show called “Love Heals All Wounds” that has toured in many outstanding areas with great reviews.
