🥨💖 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'CRAZY EX-CELLENT BENEFIT' WITH RACHEL BLOOM & DANNY JOLLES

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at an extraordinarily funny, intimate night under the stars!

On June 28th, 2026, Stars in the Backyard welcomed multi-talented Emmy and Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom in person for a "Crazy EX-cellent Benefit" in Los Angeles. 🏆👏

With only 50 seats available, the exclusive "group hang" was hosted and moderated by comedian and emcee Danny Jolles (who brought total "George" energy to the stage!). Danny led Rachel through a hilarious, candid conversation featuring iconic clips from *Crazy Ex-Girlfriend* and personal behind-the-scenes stories. From breaking down the magic of West Covina (only two hours from the beach, or four with traffic!) to spilling show secrets, the Q&A was as sharp, witty, and unapologetic as Rebecca Bunch herself. 🎤🏄‍♀️

Guests enjoyed an open bar, free tacos, and—because the situation's a lot more nuanced than that—an endless supply of delicious pretzels! 🌮🍺

⚖️🌵 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'BREAKING BOB' WITH BOB ODENKIRK AND SPECIAL GUESTS RHEA SEEHORN, MICHAEL MCKEAN & ALLISON TOLMAN

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at one of the most legendary, star-studded nights in our series!

On March 10, 2026, Stars in the Backyard took over Largo at the Coronet for "Breaking Bob"—an exclusive, one-night-only career retrospective with the man, the myth, the lawyer himself, Bob Odenkirk! From his sketch comedy roots on "Mr. Show" and cult moments on "The Larry Sanders Show", to beating up bad guys in "Nobody", navigating snowy small-town crime in the FX series "Fargo", and taking the helm as Saul Goodman in *Breaking Bad* and "Better Call Saul", Bob broke down his incredible multi-decade career with trademark wit. 🍿

Moderated by comedy master Tim Heidecker, the stage turned into an ultimate cast reunion when special guests Rhea Seehorn (Kim Wexler) and Michael McKean (Chuck McGill) joined Bob on stage (with zero chicanery), alongside his brilliant "Fargo" co-star Allison Tolman (Deputy Molly Solverson). The laughter continued with hilarious video salutes beamed in from Bob's co-stars Bryan Cranston, Patrick Fabian, and "Larry Sanders" alum Janeane Garofalo. 🎥🎬

Meanwhile, SIBY event perennials The Poubelles appeared in custom "Cinnabob" manager uniforms—a delightfully frosted homage to Saul’s black-and-white mall exile in Omaha. VIP guests scored reserved seating and signed copies of Bob’s bestselling memoir, "Comedy, Comedy, Comedy, Drama".

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at an extraordinarily creative, mind-bending night in our series!

On October 12, 2025, Stars in the Backyard welcomed indie rock visionaries OK Go to an intimate private residence in Los Feliz for an exclusive behind-the-scenes deep dive into the making of their world-famous, viral music videos! Hosted and moderated by comedy legend Jon Cryer—who brought total "Duckie" charm to the stage—this exclusive 60-person gathering wasn't a standard concert, but a masterclass in creativity, optical illusions, and single-take wizardry. 🦆 👉

Jon led band members Damian Kulash , Tim Nordwind and Andy Ross through the stories behind their gravity-defying, treadmill-dancing (*Here It Goes Again*), Rube Goldberg machine-building (*This Too Shall Pass*) masterpieces. Guests asked their burning questions while enjoying an open bar, tacos, and popcorn. Ultra VIP attendees even got to hang in the green room, snap photos with the band and Jon, and take home signed memorabilia! 📸 🍿

Hosted by our favorite backyard ringleader Jim Turner, Jack took the stage to ramble on about his multi-decade journey through Hollywood, dropping hilarious behind-the-scenes dish from "Bob Roberts", "High Fidelity", "School of Rock", "Nacho Libre", "Kung Fu Panda", and his legendary rock duo Tenacious D. 🎸🐼

VIP guests enjoyed the ultimate rock-star treatment with an exclusive backstage hang, signed memorabilia, and green room photos with Jack. The energy leveled up even more when event perennials The Poubelle Twins stepped out looking totally mind-blowing, fully outfitted as matching Jack Black clones. 👯‍♂️⚡

🤡🎪 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'THE BIG WHOOP' WITH JIM TURNER, MARK FITE, DAVE "GRUBER" ALLEN & PUDDLES PITY PARTY

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at an extraordinary afternoon of hilarity, community, and direct relief!

On March 23, 2025, Stars in the Backyard took over Dynasty Typewriter at The Hayworth in Los Angeles for a special benefit screening of *The Big Whoop*! Based on the acclaimed stage show *Clowntown City Limits* by L.A. comedy troupe 2-Headed Dog, this indie comedy stars Jim Turner, Mark Fite, and Dave "Gruber" Allen (alongside co-stars Sandra Oh and Penn Jillette) as three washed-up, down-on-their-luck birthday party clowns living "worst-place adjacent" who stumble onto a stolen, priceless artifact—and serious trouble! 🍿

VIP guests kicked off the afternoon with an exclusive reception and a special performance by the iconic, big-voiced Puddles Pity Party. Following the screening, audiences checked their coulrophobia (google it) at the door and enjoyed a laugh-out-loud Q&A with on-screen clowns Jim, Mark, and Dave, moderated by writer and performer Steven Banks.

Best of all, clowning around was for a vital cause! Thanks to everyone who attended, the event raised $6,500 for CHIRLA’s iRelief Fund, delivering direct cash assistance to immigrant families and individuals impacted by the L.A. wildfires who lack access to federal assistance. 🎟️ ❤️

🚀💋 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY' WITH JULIE BROWN & NICOLE ATKINS

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at one of the most neon, retro-fabulous, alien-obsessed nights in our series!

On October 6, 2024, Stars in the Backyard brought pure ’80s Valley Girl glam to an intimate backyard in Los Feliz for a screening of the 1988 cult sci-fi comedy classic "Earth Girls Are Easy"! We were joined in person by the legendary Julie Brown — the multi-talented comedian, songstress, and star herself! Julie hosted a wildly funny Q&A under the stars, spilling the dope on her co-stars and finally answering the ultimate question: "what is Jeff Goldblum really like in person?!".

Our own Jim Turner (Fun Fact: MTV's Randee of the Redwoods), emceed a night packed with otherworldly surprises. Powerhouse singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins blew everyone away with three breathtaking solo songs, before serenading a lucky raffle winner on stage for an epic, once-in-a-lifetime duet with Julie Brown of the film's iconic anthem, "Cause I'm a Blonde". To cap off the intergalactic aesthetic, SIBY event perennials The Poubelle Twins beamed in looking totally tubular in custom, alien-inspired outfits straight out of the movie. 👱‍♀️🎤

🎸📚 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'THE INSIDE DIRT, OUTSIDE' WITH DAVID FELTON, MARY ROACH & JILL SOBULE

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at one of the most delightfully wild, uncensored nights in our series!

On September 15, 2024, Stars in the Backyard traded traditional movie screens for high-caliber celebrity dish and live music at a top-secret backyard venue in Los Feliz, hosted by our resident master of ceremonies (and MTV’s own Randee of the Redwoods), Jim Turner. "The Inside Dirt, Outside" brought together two legendary writers and an iconic songstress to swap true, outrageous inside tales from five decades of pop culture lore.

Pulitzer Prize-winner and former "Rolling Stone" scribe David Felton—who served as Spiritual Advisor to "Beavis and Butt-Head", edited Hunter S. Thompson’s seminal "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", and interviewed Charles Manson—spilled the tea from the front lines of gonzo journalism. ("Heheh, he said 'dirt', Beavis")

Joining him on the mic was "America’s funniest science writer," Mary Roach, who took a break from examining "Stiff" human cadavers, "Gulp"ing down alimentary canal science, and "Packing for Mars" to dissect the bizarre realities of fame. The evening reached a crescendo with a soulful live performance by singer-songwriter Jill Sobule, who delivered witty, emotive tunes from her deep catalog—and no, you didn't have to be a "Supermodel" or kiss a girl to fall head over heels for her set!

Guests enjoyed an open bar and tasty nibbles while soaking in the uncensored Q&A and musical magic. Best of all, bringing this wild dirt into the light was for a vital cause—all ticket proceeds directly supported The Good Deed Corps’ campaign to register first-time youth voters and eliminate barriers to the ballot box. 🎟️

🥑🤼‍♂️ 4 YEARS UNDER THE STARS: 'NACHO LIBRE' WITH JACK BLACK

Continuing our 4th Anniversary celebration, here is a special look back at one of the most electric nights in our series!

On June 23, 2024, Stars in the Backyard brought maximum Lucha Libre energy to an all ages, sold-out crowd at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Feliz for an in-person screening of the comedy classic "Nacho Libre"! We got right down to the bare nitty-gritty with star Jack Black and director Jared Hess, who joined us on stage for an unforgettable, hilarious Q&A. 🍿

Powered by pure eagle powers, the night was a total win for democracy and entertainment—complete with real luchadors, popcorn, snacks, an open bar, exclusive merch, and, of course, plenty of delicious nachos. Jack showed us all why his life is "very good!" by going above and beyond for the fans and taking time to snap selfies with practically everyone. VIP guests kicked things off with an exclusive pre-show meet-and-greet with Jack, while actual Lucha Va Voom luchadors and the stunning Poubelle Twins brought their signature flair to the festivities. 🦅
