I have a new page for the Takeda Drum and I’d love for you all to follow it! 😊🙏🥜🎶🥁 I’m producing these drums.

Next month I’m going to the Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention to launch and sell these drums invented by my father John Kaizan Neptune and made in Taiwan!

Who is John Kaizan Neptune, the inventor of Takeda? Born in Oakland, CA, and raised in San Diego, Neptune's journey led him from a surf-loving student in Hawaii to a master of the shakuhachi, a five-holed bamboo flute. 🌊🎶

He ventured to Kyoto, Japan, and in 1977 became a "shi-han" in the Tozan School of Shakuhachi, earning the name "Kaizan" 海山 (Sea Mountain). 🌄🎼

John is known for pushing musical boundaries. His album "Bamboo" was a game-changer, winning Outstanding Album of the Year in Japan! 🎵🇯🇵

In the '80s, he fused the shakuhachi with jazz, collaborating with top talents. 🎷🎶

John's journey continued with "Kite," blending Western and Japanese influences. 🎸🎻

"River Rhythm" took him to India, creating mesmerizing soundscapes. 🇮🇳🎶

He revisited his "traditional Japanese roots" with "Prime Numbers." Using traditional instruments in non-traditional ways! 🎵🎌

He's performed worldwide, and when not making music, he crafts bamboo instruments in the Japanese countryside. 🎋🎶

He had the idea for the Takeda when he started making other instruments out of bamboo... the story continues in another post.
