Education. Nature. Community. The Kentucky Mushroom Festival (KMF) is a community gathering inspired by fungi, nature, and the land-based traditions of Appalachia. What began as a mushroom-focused event has grown into a weekend centered on learning, exploration, and connection to the natural world. Throughout the festival, attendees can participate in guided mushroom and plant walks, educational t

alks, and hands-on workshops covering topics such as wild foods, herbalism, ecology, and sustainable living. The festival also highlights traditional Appalachian crafts and heritage skills, including demonstrations and workshops in areas such as blacksmithing, woodworking, and other hands-on arts. With camping, music, community, and a vendor village, KMF brings together educators, artisans, foragers, and curious minds to celebrate the forests, culture, and knowledge that shape the Appalachian region.

We know we haven’t been posting a ton lately. Honestly, we’re trying not to burn y’all out every single day 😂 We want it to still feel exciting when KMF pops up on your feed.

Meanwhile, over here in the holler, we’ve been BUSY behind the scenes.

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve been:
- sending vendor acceptance emails
- reviewing facilitator + workshop applications
- building out the media team
- organizing volunteers + work trade
- curating the music lineup

slowly turning this weird little vision into a full weekend experience

We’ve literally been floating the river, making planning notes and talking through festival ideas while drifting downstream 😭😂..every sunny day we get.

If you applied for anything with KMF, whether that’s vendor, facilitator, volunteer, media, performer, etc., go check your email and make sure you respond to us so we can keep things moving.

Also, we know how to put festivals together, but every festival community has its own magic and personality. So we wanna hear from y’all:

What’s one thing that makes a festival unforgettable for you?

Could be something practical.
Could be weird.
Could be tiny.
Could be “please for the love of god have enough coffee" (don't worry that's already covered).
