Fill the Pack 5K This is an Eagle Project of Will Cohoon, BSA Troop 425, Zion Lutheran Church.

On January 18, 2025 we will host a valiant 5K Walk/Run at River Bluff High School in Lexington, SC to raise funds for food for hungry children at Oak Grove Elementary.

Tonight Race Director Will Cohoon completed his Eagle Board of Review and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Will planned the Fill the Pack 5K to complete the service project requirement for his Eagle rank. He could not have achieved this accomplishment without the help of all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made Fill the Pack possible.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Fill the Pack 5K a success! The total income from the race is in excess of $8,000, which will go to provide food to students at Oak Grove Elementary School who may not have enough to eat on weekends and school holidays. The program, a ministry of Zion Lutheran Church, serves about 120 students every week.

Race Director Will went shopping for food for the program today. This photo represents the food the program needs for about two weeks. The Fill the Pack proceeds will fund the program for many, many months.

Our participants weren’t only in Lexington on Saturday. There were Fill the Pack runners and walkers in Rock Hill, Connecticut, Oregon, and New Jersey.

The Snelling family participated from Rock Hill and Krystal participated from Connecticut. We appreciate everyone who helped make the event a success and get food to local students who need it.

Wow! What a morning! We had 186 registered participants for the Fill the Pack 5K!

Congratulations to all our runners and walkers! Our volunteers and extremely generous sponsors made this event an incredible success. Your support for Will’s Eagle project means more to us than we can ever express.

We can’t wait to announce the final total raised to fight childhood food insecurity in our community. And stay tuned for race pictures!
