Billy Hurt has long been a safety official for the American Sprint Car Series and has worked at countless events and other sanctioning bodies across the Midwest. Billy, a fellow Missourian, was local to myself and lots of other drivers and teams from this area. He worked many nights across the region with the ASCS Warrior Region throughout all my years racing with them, as well as at local speedways in the area.
Billy was, and always will be, one of the nicest guys you could ever come across in the pit area. He never shied away from a conversation and was always selfless, constantly looking out for others.
This tragedy is a loss not only to the racing community, but also to many local communities, along with his family and friends.
Rest easy, Billy. You left us far too soon.
