He didn’t exactly ease into radio. He once filled in for a full show and quickly learned what happens when a “creative idea” goes very wrong on-air. Before hosting mornings at KROX (101X) in Austin, Sawyer Stull was already getting thrown into the deep end of broadcasting. 🎙️

Joyce Manor’s I Used to Go to This Bar, released this past January, marks an interesting moment in the band’s evolution both sonically and in how they approached the recording process. In this clip, Barry talks about working with Brett Gurewitz as producer and how that collaboration directly shaped the record. This conversation gives a bit of insight into that process and how the right producer can push an artist into a version of their work they might not have reached otherwise.
