Lansing Historical Society

Lansing Historical Society Dedicated to preserving the past of the Village of Lansing, Illinois Each meeting begins with the business portion followed by program and/or speaker.

The Lansing Historical Society meets at the Lansing Public Library in the Community Room on the 4th Monday of the month (except July and August) at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome. Dues are $15 per year for individuals, $25 for a business, professional, organization or institute, $100 for a lifetime member and $5 for a student member. The 2022 Lansing Historical Society board members are:

The Lansing Historical Museum will be closed on this Saturday, September 19th, 2026. We will be at the Historic Ford Hangar! Come join us as we celebrate 100 years of the Ford Hangar being in the Village of Lansing - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will have many artifacts on display from the 1920s. Location: Burnham Avenue and Glenwood Lansing Road.

Before alarm clocks existed, people used nails fixed onto candles to make sure they wake up on time. They knew how to calculate the burning time and put the nail at the right position. As the candle melted, the nail fell, made a noise and woke its owner.

Saturday, August 22 will be the last day to see "Brides Through the Decades" for this year. The museum will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Also, you can still send us your wedding photo to be displayed next year in the "Lansing Weddings, Then and Now" portion of the display!

Lansing Historical Society Presents Our Annual "Brides Throughout The Decades" display.
Come see our beautiful collection of wedding gowns from different periods of time. Learn our history through these elegant works of art.
This display will run through the month of August.
Opening night will be Thursday, June 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please come by and visit this wonderful look back at our history. We are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of our founding!
