B.e. Easy Music and Arts Festival

B.e. Easy Music and Arts Festival The B.E. Easy Music & Arts Festival is a South Florida event trying to spread awareness about addiction and mental health Easy Scholarship Fund Inc.

Our dear 23-year-old son Benjamin passed away from a prescription drug overdose in 2011. Our hearts are broken, and our lives have been changed forever. No parent should have to endure the intense pain of losing his or her child, especially to a legal substance. Nor should any young adult lose a peer in such a manner. But unfortunately, this crisis has reached epidemic proportions, leaving many lo

st in its wake. Ben was a huge hearted, extremely talented and much loved individual. He treasured listening to music, fishing, his dog Delilah and the outdoors. However, he succumbed to the deadly cycle of addiction following a hip replacement surgery to repair a degenerative medical issue seven months before his passing. We were trying to think of a way to honor and celebrate Ben’s life when his brother came up with the idea to hold a music and arts festival, appropriate since Ben loved music and the festival community. With the overwhelming support of Ben’s friends, it was decided to organize the event and use any money raised by the festival to help people with addiction. In addition, it was suggested that we have councilors onsite to aid anyone needing help or wanting to talk. Powered by a team of motivated youth that recognizes that true power is in action, the B.E. Easy Music and Arts Festival and the B.E. (a 501(c)3 charitable organization), were established.

Hello Friends,

It's been a while since we've seen all your smiling faces and we want to share how the B.E. Easy Scholarship Fund has been helping young adults in their fight against addiction.

Twice a week over the last three years the B.E. Easy Scholarship Fund has funded yoga therapy classes at Wayside House, Inc. in Delray Beach, Fl. The center estimates nearly 300 residents have benefited from these classes. Alexandra Mylah Pachter teaches her students techniques they can continue to use to help cope with their disease even after they leave the center. Our goal when we started the B.E. Easy Scholarship Fund was to help as many people as possible with our limited resources and we believe yoga therapy is a powerful resource for young adults struggling with addiction.

As we reflect on this accomplishment we cannot help and think about all the people who have made this possible.

We honor and thank our volunteers, friends, family, directors, vendors, bands, fans, promoters, the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Lake Worth, The Bubble (RIP), Wayside House, Inc., Acoustic Art Creations, the talented production teams, our sound crew, grips and our sponsors. We remember the countless people we've lost to addiction and pray for those still battling this disease.

Please enjoy this video starring Alexandra Mylah Pachter and produced by Brett Eckert bretteck.com with background tunes by Adonis Guava available on bandcamp .

It is with full hearts that we tell you, B.E. Easy Music and Arts Festival is not happening this coming year, but we are continuing our efforts that have always been going on behind the scenes. We will continue to send teachers to rehabs for a more holistic approach to helping those in recovery.
We would like to send music, art and gardening teachers too so if you know anyone willing to dedicate some time to this cause please let us know at [email protected].
We cannot explain the gratitude we feel for the successes of the past 4 years and how many lives were effected through the counseling held at the festival, the awareness that was spread because of the festival, and the great memories that were made in a place where everyone could feel safe from social constructs. Thank you for your support over the years and keep your eyes and ears open for events related to this in the future to help society remove the stigma around addiction and talk about what is really going on.
BE Easy ! and much love from the staff and Evans Family

"The center will also be a place where a person in early recovery can go to do yoga, meditate and talk to people during the days and weekends. 'It’s becoming more recognized that alternative of methods of helping to treat addiction is a great advantage. Those services will also be eventually be offered in the recovery center,'."
