Rolling out the red carpet for the STARDUST LET’S DANCE GALA!🕺🏻

Originally from Irvine, California, William Okajima trained at Westside Dance Project and the Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy before earning his BFA from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance in 2024, studying under artists including Kyle Abraham and William Forsythe. At age 13, he appeared in Sia’s The Greatest music video, launching a professional career spanning both concert dance and commercial work, including campaigns for Honda, Apple, Uniqlo, Pull & Bear, and Abu Dhabi Tourism.

In 2024, William joined A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, deepening his exploration of dance as both personal expression and cultural dialogue. He received the 2025 Princess Grace Award for Dance Performance, a recognition that honors extraordinary early-career artists in theater, dance, and film, and was named to Dance Magazine’s 2026 “25 to Watch” list. Alongside performing and creating, William is passionate about supporting the next generation of artists and is currently developing a platform to expand access, opportunity, and visibility within the dance community.

“Maddie has an incredibly instinctive response to musicality that’s quite unique,” says Gates. “What’s interesting about her as a ballerina is she has an element of risk-taking, and she seems fearless. And then she laughs if it doesn’t work out.”

Rolling out the red carpet for the STARDUST LET’S DANCE GALA!🪩

We are proud to welcome .tribus !!

Jake Tribus (he/him) is a 2020 graduate of USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance under the direction of Jodie Gates, as well as a recipient of a 2022 Princess Grace Award in Dance. He most recently performed in the pre-Broadway production of “Purple Rain”. He has performed for Twyla Tharp both on tour and in her 2024 Joyce Theatre Season. He danced with Gibney Company under the direction of Gilbert T. Small II from 2020 to 2024. He has also performed in music videos and on stage for artists including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Lorde, Justine Skye, Backstreet Boys, and Janet Jackson. He featured in campaigns for Kevin’s Natural Foods, and Carolina Herrera. Jake was a lead actor and dancer in “Daytripper,” a film directed and choreographed by James Whiteside in partnership with All Arts/PBS.

As part of the concluding programs for Laguna Art Museum’s Art + Nature initiative, and to celebrate Laguna Dance’s February 13-15 Love Letters in Laguna Beach, join Laguna Dance Executive and Creative Director, and choreographer Jodie Gates for an engaging exploration of the profound connections between dance, art and the human experience.

In an exciting, real-time demonstration, Jodie Gates will collaborate with a musician and dancers to create original movement inspired by the monumental landscape paintings of 20th century artist Conrad Buff, currently on view in the galleries.
