Dear Swappers,
Our hearts are thrilled that you are considering joining our SWAP event. SWAP (Savvy Women Avoiding Purchase) has been a dream of mine for quite some time. Seven years ago I left my wonderful career as a Clothing Buyer to come home and start a family. Fashion has always been a passion of mine, but after having three little boys and choosing to be a SAHM (Stay at Home Mama) my cash f
or splurging dried up pretty fast. I’m not complaining; I wouldn’t trade my job for the world! BBBUUUTTTTT, as a woman we innately like pretty new things and expressing ourselves with our own version of fashion on whatever budget we can afford. Well this Fall a friend of mine had me read Jenn Hatmaker’s Book 7 (http://www.jenhatmaker.com/books.htm). This book brought an urgency to several things already on my heart. The book 7 truly stirred my soul enough to shake, rattle and roll. My mission is to get lean and clean in 2013 across many areas of life. Step one is to get rid of all the extra clothes and accessories hanging around. Shamefully I admit I got rid of 50+ pairs of shoes before our third son was born (I did mention I worked in retail so of course they were all GREAT DEALS!) I have been prego, nursing, or “RECOVERING” for the past seven years. Let’s face it….those skinny clothes are probably never going to look the same on this body again. I lost the weight once, but somehow the proportions have never been the same. So it’s time to let go and enjoy clothes in my current condition. If a miracle occurs and I should wake up with a size 2 body shaped like a 21 year old again, then I will just swap for that size next time. In the mean time, I’m finally ready to let it all go. So on New Years Day, I was enjoying some very special and much needed time with my Sister-in-law, Katy. I shared my crazy idea with her and desire to do something fun in our community. Much to my surprise she was ready to research and go for it. Katy’s heart was starting to beat the same way too … but with 5 boys between us, ages 6 and under, we rarely get a chance to share and dream together. Three months later our dream is coming together for the first, hopefully of many, SWAPS. We desire to give you an opportunity to clean out your extra stuff, find something “New-to-You”, and perhaps give a little to those in need too! All un-swapped items will be donated to local charities. We hope you will join us for the party and have a great time in the process.
