We capped off a truly fantastic week with excellent views of rushing grebes from the Skillet Handle Trail at the Running Y Resort. (this photo is not from this trip). This week we saw a total of 134 bird species (though we were sometimes distracted by cool wetland facts and could have missed some!), including wetland/water-dependent species, woody riparian species, and upland/forest species.

kʷtúnt čn leʼmt (great is my gratitude) for the many partners and volunteers who made this week possible and for the 223 people who came out for tours, social opportunities, and Family Science Night. Because of you, our hearts are full and our minds are already thinking of next year! Stay tuned for good things to come.

We had 75 adults and children come explore different aspects of bird and wetland-associated science last night. Many thanks to the Klamath County Library for hosting our first ever Family Science Night!

Some highlights from the White-faced Ibis Flyout this morning! It was a beautiful morning and we counted over 7500 ibis during the flyout.

We also cruised by the Eared Grebe colony and were delighted to find Black-necked Stilts and American Avocets on nests as well! A delightful morning to be sure.
