If you're in the Junction/Kerrville area, hit up MJ Custom Rods if you're looking for a good fishing rod! He uses quality blanks by Mud Hole, customizes it with the color(s) you pick, and does great work! I'll keep going back for sure!

Also, this girl would've been a FATTY pre spawn!

I wanted to get on here and mention a couple things about the tournament a month ago.

First, thank you again to all sponsors! You are very much appreciated!

Second, I watch a lot of kayak tournament videos. Kayak tournaments are typically done by length just like our tournament was. Our top placers could have competed with some of the higher length tournaments out there! Our waters produce some good fish!

Third, keep an eye out. There will be another tournament next year. Once I pick a date it'll be posted!

Lastly, how would everyone feel about doing some just-for-fun outings requiring the use of specific baits? I'm talking hollow body frog only, Texas rig only, swimbaits only, etc.

Let me know in the comments what you think!

Also, the fish are still biting so I hope you're still fishing!

The tournament may be over but that doesn't mean the fishing is! Couple d***s, one recatch (about 4.5lb), 2 solid largies, 1 solid topwater frog guad at 1.5lb, and a handful of others. Not a bad few hours of fishing!

What a great turnout! Everyone had a good time and we put up some good numbers!

A huge thank you to all sponsors for making this possible. Without you, there wouldn't have been any door prizes, trophies, or a little added pay out for Jr Anglers. Thank you so much.

Also, thank you to all participants. It was a big hit and I was asked several times to make it an annual event. Time will tell with that but I will keep you posted. In the meantime keep hammering the bass!

Angler winners:
1st Place - Roy Strange with 85.5"
2nd Place - Beau Hernandez with 75.75"
3rd Place - Stephen Gold with 75.25"

Jr Angler winners:
1st Place - Kendall Stewart with 80.25"
2nd Place - Austin Hooper with 15.25"
3rd Place - Weston McDonald with 14.25"

Side Pot Winners:
Longest Largemouth - Roy Strange with 20.25"
Longest Guadalupe - Frankie Sanchez with 14.75"

Nobody put in for the catfish side pot but we had one Jr Angler, Maverick Stewart, hook into one. He was awarded the trophy and agreed to land one soon and post it to the page.

By request of his son, we added a second sticker as a door prize for Bob Chapman for the smallest catch of an impressive 6".

Tournament is under way! If you're fishing it, and you catch something good, drop a picture of it in the comments!

Please make sure your phone cameras are sey up with location services ACTIVE for the tournament tomorrow. This is to ensure abidance to fish being caught in the Llano system ONLY.

We will have Dr. Pepper, Coke, Diet Coke, and water tomorrow. You're on your own for lunch and snacks.

Please try to arrive as close to 7 as you can so check in can get done and you can get cut loose to go to your fishing spots to start fishing at 8.

See you all tomorrow!

I was finally able to squeeze in a couple hours on the neighbor ranch this afternoon. Between the weather and work, the ability to wet a line was sparse and I was itching for it. Got 4 on topwater frog and 1 on wacky worm. Not too bad for the last bit of daylight and a day that wasn't supposed to be good for bass fishing!

I also picked up the last door prize and trophies today. Both turned out good! Saturday should be a good day! Here's to hoping the bite continues!

Waivers have been emailed. If you registered more than one person, please print and fill out enough to cover everyone. I will have extras on Saturday if someone forgets or I missed someone. We have a total of 44 people that will be fishing between the two categories.

There are also three events going on in the City Park at the same time. We will remain at the County Park under the pavilion near the bathrooms by the bridge. I look forward to seeing everyone at check in!

Registration is now closed! We have about 40 total between both groups. Waivers will be sent out in the coming days.

04/15/2026

The waivers are hot off the press and waiting to be sent out starting Sunday. I will have copies with me at the check in station as well, just in case.

In the last couple weeks I learned there are currently 3 events already happening at the City Park. That said, we will keep our location at the County Park to not overwhelm the area of the city park. It also provides easier access to launch your yaks if you want to launch there. We will be set up under the pavilion by the playground/bathrooms. There will be a banner and a backdrop visible so we shouldn't be hard to miss.

Check in starts at 7am and ends at 8am. During this time I will also be double checking the side pots you want to be in, go over rules, look at bump boards, assist if needed in getting geo tagging on your phone camera, etc.

Fishing starts at 8am and ends at 3pm. Don't forget, this is the Llano System ONLY. No tributaries, stock ponds, or any other bodies of water allowed.

At 3pm all participants need to start making their way back to the pavilion. We will tally totals during this time, do the drawings for the door prizes, and announce winners.

Awards will be handed out to each winner individually in front of the backdrop. I would also like to take pictures with each winner and a group picture of all winners.

We have a few days left for more to sign up. If you are interested email [email protected] with your name, age, and any side pots you want to participate in. Currently, we are sitting at a grand total of 31 between both categories!
