The Jacksonville Memorial Light Festival

The Jacksonville Memorial Light Festival The Jacksonville Memorial Light Festival is focused on giving members of the community a beautiful and poignant moment of remembrance.

The Jacksonville Memorial Light Festival offers individuals a personal moment to remember and honor members of the community who have given their lives in service, as well as to those lost to violence, illness, and natural or man-made disaster. The festival further offers an opportunity to send a collective wish for peace, harmony, and justice in our community and our natural environment. The fest

ival aims to strengthen the Jacksonville community by offering moments of remembrance, education, and beauty connected to our human and natural resources. During this inaugural year, the festival’s organizers aimed to engage with community leaders and groups in order to work toward the creation of an annual festival, with opportunities for support with future location, logistics, staffing, and programming. Join us to launch lanterns in memory of loved ones.

To all who have followed us and participated in the first two years of the Jacksonville Memorial Light Festival, we appreciate your support and have been so privileged to share in honoring your loved ones. We regret that we will not be able to host a 2016 event but we hope very much to return in the future and make this beautiful event a Jacksonville tradition. In the meantime, we invite you to continue the tradition on your own with this helpful DIY guide for building your own lanterns. Please remember that for the safety of wildlife and health of our waterways, lanterns should never be set into natural bodies of water unless you have a way to retrieve them afterward:

Best wishes for peace and loving memories as you honor your loved ones this Memorial Day.
