The room is louder and everybody's softer. You laughed with somebody who lives three blocks from your house and was a stranger two hours ago. You told a story you forgot you had. You looked across the table at somebody who isn't your age, isn't from where you're from, doesn't do what you do, and realized they've been carrying the same questions you have.
