08/23/2026

Here are the results!
The Low Winner had a score of 39pts winning $883 and donated back $400!
The High Winner had a score of 230pts winning $1325
The 50/50 pot was $603

My apologies for not knowing the names.

I spoke with our Civic League president and he's going to send a list of needs that the money could go to. Personally,I'm leaning more towards finishing out the park improvements but will be discussing with the group. For anyone concerned, this time we are giving the money ASAP to the League instead of gathering supplies and doing the work ourselves on whatever little time we have to help out.

Thank you to the volunteers: Leslie and Larry Pogue, Tiffany Campbell, Monte Campbell Chris Kubin Clifford Sanders Lisa Doolittle Holcomb Betty Bradley Missy Manson Latham and Darcy Williams. Darcy is the one to thank for the stamp idea that worked wonderfully.

Our hosts were incredible. Thank you Shelley Kinder Carter, Joel Carter, Michelle Vessels, Matt Holland, Rachel Saenz, and Tim Bort.

Last but not least, thank you, Lake Shadows neighbors and friends! We appreciate y'all pushing through the crazy heat and helping us raise money for the hood. It was wonderful hanging out with y'all.

Who's ready for tommorow!!!???
Read the post below this one and direct your friends/neighbors to this page. All the details are posted for any questions y'all may have.

Remember your trash bag (Dont Mess With Texas! ) and that we are not babysitters!

The new change is that you are responsible for your playing card and getting it stamped at each stop. If you can't make the line to pull a chip, you need to let a friend get that done for you.
We will need your cooperation approx 30mins after we come back to the registration site to gather at the tent and lower your music so that we can determine our winners.
Do not park on the street at registration site at the beginning or end! Do not block La Cruda truck.

***Read the info posted! I know it's long but it answers a lot of questions we've gotten in the past!**

I wanted to stress that it's important for you and your guests to read the info/expectations. I try to add things in after each year that need to be addressed, corrected, or improved.
THANK YOU for being awesome in 2025 by being mindful of trash pickup and keeping music to a decent level. It was wonderful.

**For 2026 we're stressing that school aged children must be accompanied and monitored by an adult/parent. They will need to check in at registration with parents/guardian/adult responsible for them**
We cannot do our jobs and watch them the whole time too. Please keep them close by.

Be safe and smart about drinking, y'all. Foley Road has become more dangerous with all the new builds and construction. Drink responsibly and make sure your people know their limits and are safe to drive back home. Let's have fun but not overdo it!

I want to add that at registration and at the very end we need y'all off the street. NO parking on Old Galley Way! You will pull into the registration properties and just make sure you're not blocking anyone from being able to exit.

Info below:

***please read***
HOW TO PLAY
REGISTRATION IS IN PERSON AT 3PM ON AUGUST 22nd AT
18514 OLD GALLEY WAY (get there BEFORE 4pm)
There are no presales!

Have CASH. Exact is best, quicker and preferred.
$20 per player, $10 per non participant/rider, Kids-Free
You may purchase more than one card for yourself.
Theme (optional): Anything TEXAS

***It is recommended that you bring a trash bag with you to properly dispose of your trash instead of in my yard or anywhere for that matter. If you are unable to use the trashcans/bags at our stops that are provided or your own, you will be asked to leave. Please keep music volume acceptable***

1. Once you have paid (payment means you have agreed to the waiver) to play at the registration from 3pm-4pm, you will be given a playing card. You may want to put your name on it. You are responsible for keeping up with your card and getting a stamp at each stop.
School aged children must be accompanied by an adult at registration and will have a band with name of responsible adult and their ph number on it. Any unsupervised children will be turned away. If you leave early, they will go with you. Please get here before 4pm. We are trying to be done registering at 4! Depending what your card color is it will determine who you draw a chip from. We have 4 lines: pink, blue, yellow and green.

You will have the option to enter in the 50/50 pot at the registration table. $5 for 1 ticket or $20 for 5 tickets. We will draw at the end of the run before we announce winners.

2. We will be traveling together to host houses to draw a chip at each one. We have 400 numbered chips total. Chips are numbered 1-50 (8 sets). We will stamp your card on the number you draw. You are allowed multiple cards but are not allowed to pick and choose what chip number goes to each card. If for some reason you are unable to get your card stamped at a spot, give it to a friend to get it stamped for you.

3. At the end YOU will add up the numbers you have drawn together to come up with the sum. The highest sum will win 30% of the pot in the form of a Visa giftcard. The lowest sum will win 20% of the pot. The remaining 50% will be what will be donated back to Lake Shadows. The 50/50 pot $ we keep is to cover the port o potties and any other supplies.
It is important you are paying attention to when we start asking who has the highest and lowest numbers when we return to the registration location. We will verify that you added correctly.

4. We don't know when the chip run will end but approximate it to be around 8

5. La Cruda BBQ food truck will be at the last stop if you choose to buy dinner. We usually arrive there at 7:00

6. We will have port o cans or restroom at the stops. At the park you cannot barge into the pool area without a pass or paying $5 to the lifeguards. DO NOT URINATE IN PUBLIC. If you cannot use a restroom/potty or be discrete/hidden, you will be asked to leave.

7. **At the end no one is to park on the street** alongside the ditches. You will pull into the registration area property and not block the entrance or La Cruda BBQ truck.

8. NEW 2026 RULE: If you have school aged children, you need to be present. We cannot babysit them for you. If we see any unaccompanied children, they will not be allowed to participate. This is for ours and their safety.

IMPORTANT: We are trying to do something good for the hood and want to be respectful. We cannot park in random people's driveways. Do not walk through people's yards. I ask that your clothing, banners, or flags not have explicit words because there will be children watching us. NO LITTERING. No illegal drugs.

This is not a competition to see who has the loudest speakers. Music is fine but please make sure it's not the raunchiest and that is not at a deafening level. Have just enough fun to where the cops won't get called.

We wanted to give you a preview of our NEW cards. We will not be using bands and keeping score for you. You will be responsible for having your card at each stop and adding your score up.
Procedures:
Give the volunteer your card first, pull a chip, show your chip to the volunteer and they will stamp the number box of what you pull.

When we return at the end to the registration site, we will give y'all about 30mins before we gather at the tent. It will help if you turn down your music to hear us call those who feel they may have the highest AND lowest scores. We will check cards and determine the winners.

02/10/2026

Hey, y'all. I wanted to keep you in the loop on Poker Run: we have not spent all of the money raised. We had a little left over from the 2024 year and decided to hold onto it to add to 2025's. A lot of us are not interested in doing the run anymore. We decided to give the remaining money to civic league. I believe the money will go to concrete work needed for maintenance and I know some light is supposed to be repaired. I can post at a later time when all of that is taken care of. Sorry for the delay, my husband is a shift worker with zero time. For now, we are holding on to the 50/50 pot money in case we can get some volunteer positions filled and have a 2026 run. The 50/50 pot money we set aside would pay for the port o potties. I am willing to assist Leslie Pogue, who will most likely take over. If we are not able to get enough help, we will be done with the run and donate the remainder of the money to the civic league. I will post at a later time closer to summer to see if we have any takers to fill in the vacant positions.
