Chase update:
What a busy month February has been for us!
Chase started slowly losing mobility in his lower half around January. Due to the newer spot that they had found in his lumbar region in his most recent MRI back in January. So that’s what lead to a game plan of doing radiation just to his lumbar region and restarting the chemotherapy that he was previously on and stopped exactly one year ago. He started radiation on January 31st and ended February 11th. Chemo started again on January 28th which is pill form that he takes 5 days a month and will continue until told otherwise. 2 days before he started radiation he lost all mobility in his lower half and we made the decision to have him admitted to the hospital and do radiation as an inpatient to help with getting him to and from radiation due to not being able to walk or move his lower body. While he was in there his team of doctors decided that it would be best if he did an intense inpatient physical therapy rehab 6 days a week and 3 hours a day for 3 weeks to help gain his mobility back while doing radiation. He has improved so much while being in there, he hasn’t been able to move anything on left leg/foot in a few months and he is able to move his toes on his left foot now. He can also move his right leg again. Although, he isn’t 100% back to “normal” we know it will take time and hard work for him to completely regain all his mobility again which we are believing and trusting in the process. His doctors obviously cannot guarantee that he will gain his mobility back completely, but they are real confident that he will. He will be discharged on Tuesday (March 1st) and will continue physical therapy at Houston Methodist in Baytown.
His physical therapist told me that “You can truly tell he wants to get better. He isn’t just trying to do it, he’s doing it and much more” and that his attitude is the best they have seen and you don’t come around people like him often. To know Chase is to truly love Chase. He is the strongest person I know and for as much as he has been through he never gives up nor has that thought ever been an option in his mind. He knows God has a plan for him and he will soon have one heck of a testimony to tell!!
Continue to pray for complete healing for Chase, for his lower mobility to completely come back, and for nothing but positive news from here on out. There is power in persistent prayer! 🤍🤍
With love,
