overlooked — terrain in SW Montana. From the Big Hole River valley at sunrise
to the high peaks of the Pioneers, every mile of this route earns its name.

12 friends. 175 miles. Twin Bridges to Virginia City.

The Pioneer Crossings Relay is a 36-leg, self-supported road relay through the
heart of SW Montana. You’ll run the Big Hole River valley, cross the Pioneer
Mountains Scenic Byway, pass through remote gold country, and finish in historic
Virginia City — Montana’s original territorial capital.

Each runner averages ~15 miles across 3 legs. You have 11 teammates for the rest.
The race runs continuously for 24–36 hours. Yes, through the night.
The stars make it worth it.

Registration is open for July 10–11, 2026.
Three team formats: 12-person, 6-person Ultra, or Wildcard. $135/person.
