Happy American Eagle Day (photo by Alec Burmylo). Our artist contest this year revolves around the concept of America @ 250 and some submissions to date include the clutch from Patrick Michael Accessories which uses fabrics with historic decorative art; red, white and blue resin popsicles from Tracey Lessard Art; and, of course, Melissa Heller's scarf on Haddy with grave rubbings from local cemeteries.

Some New Jersey-based artists who will be in the show:

Michele Foster-lucas. Artist at work - Painting & Drawing, Pennsauken, NJ
Michele Foster Lucas brings a distinctive visual voice shaped by her background, technique, and personal artistic philosophy. Her work includes painting and drawing, exploring themes of people and gardens. She works in mixed media, layering paints, found objects, and varied materials to create richly textured pieces. “I love going to Haddonfield,” Foster Lucas said. “It’s a great show for me, and I am a repeat exhibitor. I enjoy interacting with my fellow artists, seeing loyal customers, and meeting new ones.”

Bonnie Shanas - Wire Mesh Sculptures, Cherry Hill, NJ
Shanas transforms industrial mesh into fluid, emotive figurative sculpture. Working entirely by hand with minimal tools, she shapes each piece without molds. “While most forms of sculpture are additive or reductive, I enjoy the challenge of breathing life into a sheet of steel wire mesh, where no material can be added or removed,” she said. A first time exhibitor, she added, “I’ve traveled across the country for shows, but I’ve never shown so close to home. I’m next door in Cherry Hill.”

David and Barbara Oppenheim Sea Through the Wood LLC, Cherry Hill, NJ
Recently retired and now fully immersed in their craft, David and Barbara Oppenheim create functional and decorative pieces using live-edge wood, epoxy, pigments, and glass. “We don’t stain anything; Barbara looks at the grain and the colors and figures out what we can do with it,” David said. They are repeat exhibitors returning for the festival’s welcoming atmosphere and engaged customers.

Screaming Goat Glass – Douglas Ohm and Family, Millville, NJ
Screaming Goat Glass is a family run studio led by Douglas Ohm and Jennifer Pagliarini. Their son Michael, 17, a two time cancer survivor, is the studio’s primary artist. His nature inspired flameworked pieces include leaves, turtles, acorns, and rainbow heart pendants. This is their first year exhibiting, and Michael will be the youngest artist!

Meet Pennsylvania artist Melissa Heller who is bringing her stunning, hand-printed silk scarves to the Haddonfield Fine Arts Festival, and she’s embraced the Festival’s "America 250" Contest!

Melissa designed a custom scarf for Haddonfield’s beloved Haddy statue, honoring a centuries-old craft which includes grave rubbings with modern artistry. Her work is truly one of a kind, and we love showcasing a fabric artist who keeps this beautiful tradition alive. Stop by the Festival to meet Melissa and see the scarf on display on Haddy, July 11 & 12!
