Five summers ago, Jeff and Angie Martin embarked on the journey of upgrading the Northern Lights Lakeside Resort into the U.P. Sunrise Cottages. The gorgeous lakefront property is home to nine cottages with access to a beach, aquapark, and several activities to keep the kids occupied. The Martin family bought the property from their friends with zero business experience, but they were able to learn quickly and work hard to transform the place into what it is today. “As we enter our 6th summer, we are unbelievably proud of what we have built, and even more so grateful for the friends who have come alongside us to put in the hard work and long hours!”

This Little Lake resort has been the embodiment of a true small-town business. Several locals recommend the cottages to visiting family members and friends, while some older folks drive through just to relive their childhood memories. While Forsyth Township offers a variety of unique lodging opportunities, U.P. Sunrise Cottages is set apart by their location on Farmer Lake and the Martins’ heartfelt hospitality. “We specialize in making sure moms and dads actually get a restful vacation; from the time they pack up to the time they get home, we keep hearing from happy guests how restful the vacation was because we provide everything they could think of so they don't have to pack it.”

The Martin Family truly cherishes each guest that comes through and they take pride in Little Lake. Even if you’re a local, set aside some time to stay in a cottage for a night and catch a sunrise while supporting the small businesses that make up our town.
