As a kid, she always stayed in the lines when coloring.
At this afternoon’s intimate Sole 2 Soul Counseling & Wellness session, one participant shared that with me and said this way of painting was newer for her. She used tape to created boundaries on her page, then painted right over them like they weren’t there.
When she peeled the tape away, the edges showed up again, but you could still see where her painting had moved past them. It was a joy to watch her find comfort in the boundaries and then step beyond them.
I also joined in, painting alongside everyone, and tried something new myself: liquid acrylic. Parts of my painting hadn’t fully dried, so when I dropped in the black, it started blurring with the wet watercolor.
I embraced the "oops!", laughed about it, and eventually made it work. (More on what I did with that painting soon!)
Thank you to everyone who came ready to play!
