Yesterday was an incredible day for so many people. Iā€™m a walking zombie, but in my final moments of consciousness Iā€™d like to shower all of these amazing human beings with praise.

The people of Grand Rivers, KYā€¦ Iā€™ve never seen a more genuine display of community. Every year you take care of so much and ask for nothing in return. You are my favorite element of this race.

My crew and volunteersā€¦ THERE IS NO RACE WITHOUT YOU! The level of effort you all put in for people you hardly know is the very thing that keeps the faith alive. Your generosity is only rivaled by your competency. I love you all so much.

The families that all come out to support their runnersā€¦ You bring out all the emotions at that finish line. The pain and triumph that are built up every mile, and all the stories of your lives that finally get played out. You are the richness of this race.

The runnersā€¦ Your display of courage and grit is what raises the vibe to the stratosphere. All of your trials, triumphs, demons, broken hearts and more are pushed through hour by hour for the world to see. All the while under the constant threat of total collapse and failure. You are my people.

Steve, Terri and John Durbinā€¦ I have never been more proud to stand in anyone elseā€™s shadow. What you have made here the past 22 years is timeless and has organically become a living thing of its own accord. You planted the seeds of a tree long ago, and tens of thousands of people have enjoyed its fruit and shade. Thank you for bringing me in and giving me this amazing opportunity to work with you.

Finally my teammate and wife of 25 years Deniseā€¦ Iā€™m so sorry for all this, lol! Can you believe we just did all that?!!! I love doing life with you.

Iā€™ve said it as loud as I could a thousand timesā€¦ Races donā€™t happen without the generosity of volunteers. Allan Rhodes has spent the last 2 days with me loading and unloading trailers, running to Lowes, unpacking boxes and more. Literally one of the most dependable people Iā€™ve ever known. Thank you brother for being a great friend with a servants heart.
