We're honored to have been nominated and voted into the Top 5 Favorite Weird Distances for The Fly Awards this year! To everyone who voted, Thank You!

By the way, these are all great races to check out!

465 votes for the weird distances.

Turns out Michigan runners really do love a race that doesn’t fit neatly on a training plan. The 25K, the 10-mile, the 4-mile, the 1-mile — the “why does this exist?” distances people keep coming back to.

This category had a clear favorite, but plenty of loyalty across the board. Here are the top 5.
Amway River Bank Run
LMCU Bridge Run
Dirty Duel
Reeds Lake Resolution Run
The Dirty Mitten

The Top 3 will be announced Tuesday morning, January 13, online. That evening, stop by City Built Brewing from 5–9 PM.
Open house style. No program. No speeches.
Pick up your hardware in the back room, grab a beverage, support the restaurant, network and connect with the community. Free to attend.

RACE RECAP: Now that was EPIC.

Three years ago, I inherited the Wolverine Worldwide Resolution Run from Classic Race Management. It's a race with deep roots in the community that I grew up in. I’m thankful for the opportunity to help keep it going and to continue growing it thoughtfully, while honoring what has made it special for more than four decades.

This year marked another step forward with the course officially USA Track & Field (USATF) -certified, and we’ll continue pursuing formal recognition of the 4-mile distance. It’s an unconventional distance, but one that deserves its place.

While we all had hoped for milder conditions, Michigan delivered a classic winter backdrop instead. Snow fell steadily throughout the afternoon, and I’m grateful to share that despite the conditions, the race concluded safely with no reported injuries.

That’s a credit to our volunteers, Guiding Light Works course marshals, City of East Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation and Public Safety, Kent County Sherriff and the runners and families who showed up prepared. We hit a 10-year record and only hope to grow it from here.

Even in the snow, the elite field delivered strong performances:

Overall Winners:
• Benjamin Hardy - Run GR - 20:41.48
• Alyssa McElheny – Gazelle Elite - 22:33.03

Masters:
• Kristopher Koster - 23:17.13
• Amy Wing - Run GR - 26:30

Thank you to our title sponsor, SHARPE Cars, and to University of Michigan Health-West, Au Pair in America (Kids Race sponsor), Biked Grand Rapids (Leadout and Overall Awards), Striders (Overall Awards), Big Bob's Pizza (Overall Awards), Gordon Water Systems, Pepsi, Haul'n Balls and Johnny D's Bike Bags, hot dogs. A special thank-you to Mary Salhaney for being at the kids race finish, special shout out to Andrew Grashuis, Brecken, the entire Resolution Run race committee, my husband, my adult children, the amazing Chris Robotham, Larry Crabbe, Ron Knoll, the finish line crew, the race directors who teach me how it works and then send good juju and the many volunteers who made the day run smoothly!

Runners/walkers: the course looks about 80% clear all of the paved roads are clear. Thank you, EGR for getting that done!

The road to the pathway is messy. If you would like to take the street route, feel free. It may be easier with those which children and strollers. If you are trying to qualify for an award, you must run the certified course, which will be led by a bike leader.

Do what feels right for you and enjoy the day! Thanks for spending some of it with us!
