Celebrating 30 Years of Michigan Disc Golf: The 2026 Michigan Amateur State Championships

Ludington, MI — [8/21/2025— The Michigan Disc Golf Organization (MDGO) is proud to announce that the 2026 Discraft Michigan Amateur State Championships will be held over Labor Day weekend, September, 2026 in Mason County, Michigan. This milestone year marks the 30th Anniversary of the event, cementing its legacy as one of the most historic and prestigious amateur disc golf tournaments in the United States.

For three decades, the Michigan Amateur State Championships have brought together hundreds of players, volunteers, sponsors, and fans to celebrate the spirit of disc golf. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a nationally recognized championship that showcases the best of Michigan’s disc golf community and its renowned courses along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The 2026 Championship will not only honor the history of the event but also serve as the final year hosted at its historic venue in Mason County, making this year’s tournament a truly once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Players and fans can expect:
• A record-setting field of amateur competitors from across Michigan and beyond.
• Special 30th Anniversary commemorative player packages and merchandise.
• Recognition of the countless volunteers, staff, and sponsors who have built the event’s legacy.
• A celebration of the courses that have become legendary in the disc golf world.

“This 30th Anniversary is more than just a tournament—it’s a celebration of the people, places, and passion that have made Michigan disc golf what it is today,” said Tournament Director Mark Stephens. “We are proud to close this chapter at Mason County on the same weekend that has defined the State Championships for nearly three decades.”

The Michigan Amateur State Championships remain a cornerstone of disc golf culture in Michigan and a model for state championships nationwide. Discraft Michigan Amateur State Championships Presented By Great Lakes Disc is a PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament in Ludington, Michigan beginning August 29, 2025 and hosted by Michigan Disc Golf Organization.

Registration for the Last Chance Qualifier is now open.

The play in for spots will be at Lake Shore Community College if necessary. It is only necessary to play off if there are more players registered in a Pool and than there are spots remaining. We have not had to play off in the last few years but every year is different!

Last Chance Qualifier : Discraft Michigan Amateur State Championships is a Disc golf tournament in Scottville, Michigan beginning August 28, 2025 and hosted by Michigan Disc Golf Organization.
