We’ll take “Things That Make Gilroy Famous” for $400!

How fun is this? Gilroy and the Gilroy Garlic Festival made an appearance last night on Jeopardy!

We have a feeling a few people around here knew the answer.

It’s pretty incredible to see a tradition so closely associated with Gilroy recognized on the national stage, and we’re especially proud that Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center has served as the home of the Gilroy Garlic Festival for the past two years. There’s something special about seeing thousands of people come together at Hecker Pass to celebrate the food, traditions, people and unmistakable character that make our community unique.

Congratulations to the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association and City of Gilroy on a little national TV recognition. When Jeopardy is asking questions about your hometown traditions, you know Gilroy has made its mark!

Did You Know? You Can Camp at The Grove!

Each year, The Grove at Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center transforms into an overnight camping destination when Gilroy Gardens hosts its popular Camp Nights—and the final Camp Night of 2026 is coming up on October 17.

With more than two acres of tree-lined outdoor space, The Grove provides a pretty special setting for spending a night under the stars.

It also got us thinking: What could your organization create here?

A private camping experience could be a memorable alternative to the traditional company outing, team retreat, youth organization event, alumni gathering, or group celebration. Think tents beneath the trees, outdoor games and activities, shared meals, evening entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to simply spend time together.

We loved seeing The Grove at Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center filled with an incredible collection of vehicles during the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce’s 26th Annual Garlic City Car Show & Harvest Festival on September 19!

With more than two acres of tree-lined outdoor space, The Grove provides plenty of room for large gatherings, festivals, community celebrations, activities; and, as we got to see firsthand, a whole lot of awesome cars.

More than anything, we enjoyed welcoming the City of Gilroy community to Hecker Pass and seeing this space come alive with people enjoying great cars, food, music, local businesses, and time together.

A special thank you to the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce for choosing Hecker Pass to host this wonderful community event.

The Yard is taking shape... and fast!

It’s exciting to see how much progress can happen in such a short period of time.

Our capital improvement project to create The Yard, the new outdoor activity hub at Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center, is moving right along. With new pathways, activity areas and turf already beginning to transform the space, it’s getting easier every day to imagine the fun that will soon happen here.

Designed to add another dimension to events at Hecker Pass, The Yard will offer multiple opportunities for outdoor fun, play and friendly competition giving event planners even more ways to bring people together beyond the traditional event experience.

Why are some events more memorable than others?

Often, it starts with where they happen. When guests walk into another hotel ballroom or traditional meeting space, they generally know what to expect. But put that same event somewhere unexpected, and something changes.

This flexible new activity hub will include:

• 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 for basketball, pickleball, volleyball or badminton
• 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀 with all-weather Pacific Pearl surface
• 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 with options for horseshoes, corn hole, tetherball, and other lawn games and activities

For corporate retreats, company picnics, festivals, and private celebrations, The Yard will be a great place for guests of all ages to relax, play, and connect throughout the day.

The engines are revving, the harvest season is here, and we're excited to welcome one of Gilroy's favorite community traditions to Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center!

We're proud to host the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce's 26th Annual Garlic City Car Show & Harvest Festival, bringing together classic and custom cars, a family harvest celebration, local businesses, live music, local food, b**r and w**e, and the incredible community spirit that makes Gilroy so special.

It takes countless hours of planning, dedication, and community spirit to bring an event of this scale to life, and your commitment to preserving one of Gilroy's most cherished traditions is truly inspiring.

Everyone at Hecker Pass Events Center is grateful for the opportunity to host this outstanding community event. It was a privilege to welcome thousands of guests, volunteers, vendors, entertainers, and supporters to our venue for a weekend filled with great food, great people, and unforgettable memories.
