We are honored to bring to the public a Mardi Gras festival for Autism. Bourbon Street in downtown Fullerton has created a twist on the traditional Mardi Gras celebration, combining the historical festive nature of the event with fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Designed for kids and grown-ups alike, the event allows everyone, including children with and without autism a festive and memorable expe
rience. Proceeds raised from the event benefit the autism programs in the Fullerton School District. Spearheaded by Bourbon Street founder and co-owner Lawrence Houser, and father of a child with autism, the event brings together the residents of Fullerton and surrounding communities for a day of Mardi Gras-themed entertainment. In addition to the participation of Fullerton High School’s Circus Club, which will offer stilt walkers, unicycle riders, plate spinners, fire throwers, Jugglers and more, Fullerton’s CF Dance academy will occupy the stage with festive dance performances from students of all ages. The event perimeter will also be filled with and array of face painters, balloon twisters, character drawers and crazy hair stylist, fun for the whole family. Our sensory friendly area for children with autism will feature an assortment of bounce houses, as well as a 20-foot-long gaming truck. We are pleased to announce ASkate as our newest partners to our sensory friendly zone. ASkate is an organization that teaches kids with autism how to ride a skateboard. They then assist the kids through a course designed specifically their enjoyment. This year the local tattoo community has come together to provide personalized hats with the children’s names as well as their custom artwork. This year’s main attraction is The Aquarium of the Pacific on Wheels. That’s right! We are going to bring the ocean and its incredible creatures to downtown Fullerton. Adults will enjoy eating beignets while listening to the Dixie Delics playing all the customary Dixieland jazz favorites, and providing guests with the ambiance of being in Jackson Square. Bourbon Street will be offering traditional New Orleans style food along with their fusion of California Cajun cuisine, favored among local foodies. Contact us at:[email protected]
