72 Film Fest

10/09/2026

Years ago we first announced our ambitious, 3D, black and white, experimental folk horror with a proof of concept trailer at the Weinberg Center for the Arts during the 72 Film Fest. Since then Leda has toured the world with festival plays and received international distribution with both streaming and physical media. Next Saturday the film returns for its first time ever to Frederick, Maryland, the place it where it was made as a featured screening of the 72 Fest, which was a huge support in the film's creation, assisting me as a former 72 competitor to realize my dream of a feature film. I can't wait to celebrate the film's successes with the community that helped to make it happen, and also to get excited about what's coming next. Hope to see lots of familiar faces at the screening and at the fest!

And they’re off! Over 50 teams came out to 7th Sister in Frederick Maryland to get their theme and criteria for 72 Film Fest Year 21: Risk vs Reward!

Over a dozen volunteers headed up various gaming stations where teams played games for their required elements. From adding or subtracting seconds from their Maximum Running Time to adding/Swapping/Removing various plot elements in the forms of Risks and Rewards.

A huge thank you to the 72 film fest committee for their hours of planning pulling this crazy Launch off, 7th sister staff for keeping everyone fed and hydrated, Doug and Mikael for keeping the show going, the many volunteers who showed up and played all night, and of course all of the teams willing to dive in every year having no clue what we may give them.

Have fun out there making movies! Tag us and we’ll share it all!

Lots of cool stuff going on during SilverVox Film and Music Festival, from Cults, Kishi Bashi and tons of local bands taking over downtown, to Red Carpet Premieres of Spinsters, Industry Talks, parties and so much more. There's even a few 72 Film Fest movies playing in the mix.

And just announced- some lucky Filmmakers/VIPS can go play on Sunday and shoot some on some film.

Hope to see ya there! Tickets and Passes available over at SilverVoxFest.com

Sunday Film Workshop at SilverVox Film + Music Fest!

With Kodak releasing a new motion picture film stock just last month, it’s clear that film is far from dead. Presented by Frederick-based rental boutique Archai Media at the Frederick Junk Co and hosted by Samuel Tressler IV and Adeline Thery of Good For You, this workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of shooting on 16mm film.

The course will cover film negative stock options, loading and operating the Arri SR3 Advanced camera, using a light meter for proper exposure, and preparing film for lab processing. The day will be split between hands-on instruction and shooting exercises in and around the venue, with every participant having the opportunity to shoot on film themselves.

Once the film has been processed and scanned, participants will receive a downloadable link to the raw footage.

Space is limited to 12 participants and available to reserve by Silver VIP and Filmmaker Passholders!
