Lots of cool stuff going on during SilverVox Film and Music Festival, from Cults, Kishi Bashi and tons of local bands taking over downtown, to Red Carpet Premieres of Spinsters, Industry Talks, parties and so much more. There's even a few 72 Film Fest movies playing in the mix.

And just announced- some lucky Filmmakers/VIPS can go play on Sunday and shoot some on some film.

Sunday Film Workshop at SilverVox Film + Music Fest!

With Kodak releasing a new motion picture film stock just last month, it’s clear that film is far from dead. Presented by Frederick-based rental boutique Archai Media at the Frederick Junk Co and hosted by Samuel Tressler IV and Adeline Thery of Good For You, this workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of shooting on 16mm film.

The course will cover film negative stock options, loading and operating the Arri SR3 Advanced camera, using a light meter for proper exposure, and preparing film for lab processing. The day will be split between hands-on instruction and shooting exercises in and around the venue, with every participant having the opportunity to shoot on film themselves.

Once the film has been processed and scanned, participants will receive a downloadable link to the raw footage.

Space is limited to 12 participants and available to reserve by Silver VIP and Filmmaker Passholders!

72 Film Fest is just a day away! Come out to the .center this weekend to watch 61 short films over two days, the first screening of The Black Hills Night Hike and celebrate independent filmmakers in Frederick!

Teams picked from past years criteria and made a movie in 72 hours. The results are the most eclectic year of films yet.

Mikael & Doug S20e01 plays this weekend at 72 Film Fest along with 61 short films shot over 72 hours!

Friday and Saturday are packed solid with 48 local films screening Friday Night. Then on Saturday 13 “online competition” short films screen at 12:30pm, The Black Hills Night Hike feature film Premieres at 3pm and then the Main Event with finalists and awards at 7pm.

Come out to Weinberg and support local filmmaking and screen artists! Tickets available at Weinberg Center Box Office- buy in person to save on online fees.

If you’re not local to Frederick you can watch 13 “online” competition films Friday Night at 8:30pm EST.

This year is very unique with the widest variety of films we’ve seen at the Fest. Can’t wait to share them with everyone.

Join us for 72 Film Fest Retrospective screenings in the Vox House, where we dive into a few teams and screen three of their past entries. Watch as the team evolves either from cast/crew members or abilities, spot the common themes and styles and see how they choose to adapt the different criteria each year. Films range from 5-7 minutes and each block of films will be followed by a Q/A with members of the teams.
