First of its kind that I’m aware of. Our Friday night Light car show will also include a Christmas movie with hot coco and popcorn. Bring a chair and let’s start the holiday season off right! Bring the kids!! The kids will choice their favorite car as well!

The following day, not only will it be a car show but we will be collecting unopened/wrapped toys for our Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter to pass out toys when they deliver beds. If you donate a toy, you will receive 10 raffle tickets for the car show door prizes. Let’s make this one to remember.

This year will be a Christmas edition were you can bring an u wrapped gift to donate to one of the Sleep In Heavenly Piece kids who receives a bed. One goal I made for this year is to find more ways to get the word out in our community about Sleep in Heavenly Peace - FL, Ft Walton Beach.
I have been speaking with the directors of Shelter House and Opportunity Place.
I want to make sure as their residents transition out the children have the beds they need.
On October 6th we had the opportunity to speak to all school counselors in Okaloosa County. They gave us a 30 minute time slot to speak and answer any questions. Our time slot was 11:00-11:30 right before they broke for lunch and after they had already had continuing education for three hours. Hoping they were listening and not just thinking of where to go for lunch we gave our presentation and made sure everyone had a pamphlet for SHP.
Two weeks later I had my answer to the question.
I was contacted by one of the counselors from a local elementary, prior to October 6th she was unaware that SHP existed. The counselor had to do a home visit due to excessive absences and tardies. During the home visit she discovered the student’s sleeping conditions were a box spring on the floor and one old pillow. There were no blankets, no sheets and no mattress for the child.
SHP Application has been filled out.
Bed should be delivered and one more child off the floor this week.
